Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
Is Chorus buying sky regional and ggn and merging it all under one Air Canada Express company?
What is the likelihood of this with Sky being moments away from certification, and then, what would a merger look like among all three ?

Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
They should merge, but if course then how could AC undercut one another using each other?
If they do, AC will guaranteed start looking for other companies to do the flying for less, just to keep costs down at chorus.

Maybe, but they have cost certainty until 2025 with chorus. I'd be surprised to see a merger, but this business seldom makes sense.
Personally, I wouldn't put much thought into it. If it were to happen, it's not likely that you'll be able to do anything about it anyways.

Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
Could AC be behind an Express merger as a way to mitigate manpower shortages in the industry ?
Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
Who or what is Chorus?
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
Well Sky just certified under ALPA... so it would be a rather easy merger I suppose.
Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
No it won't and we've spoken about this before. Russ Payson and Calin have different motives and a merger would not be beneficial to them. The tone will begin to slowly change around here, it'll be a rough but welcome transition.
Congratulations again.
Congratulations again.

Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
Can someone please give the slightest reason why this would happen?
Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
New government legislation coming in that is going to make companies that contract flip eg CPA to CPA pay the same wage and keep people retaining their longevity for pay and vacation. C-86 I believe.

Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
SKR has only signed the cards. Not sure they've certified yet.
However, I doubt AC would try and pull a fast one on them and push or force a purchase/merge. They could however downsize SKR and hand Jazz a bunch of the embraers, as they did to us by giving GGN our old tired 200s.
You'd be more likely to see GGN get snagged than SKR.
AC doesn't want a repeat of what happened previously, with only one regional dictating their wages and conditions.

Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
So would that mean the boys and girls at Jazz/GGN would be getting a raise? Sky FO's starting out get $49.35 and Jazz is $38 somethingfish4life wrote: ↑Fri Nov 16, 2018 11:03 pm New government legislation coming in that is going to make companies that contract flip eg CPA to CPA pay the same wage and keep people retaining their longevity for pay and vacation. Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
I am sure that would be part of the negociating..... My guess. Something in the middle
Re: Chorus/Ggn/Sky merge
They make more per hour but jazz contract is worth more money per year overall. Something people really need to start understanding on this forum is hourly pay is only ONE PART of your overall compensation.yycinformer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 17, 2018 12:36 pmSo would that mean the boys and girls at Jazz/GGN would be getting a raise?
