Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
Heard a rumour that Jazz is going to take over the EVAS flying out of YHZ come January. Has anyone heard anything about this?
Does anyone know when EVAS's contract is up?
Does/will Jazz have enough Classics left to operate the YHZ-YQM,YFC,YJS,YYG runs?
How does the AC route planning work with Rouge taking a lot of the Maritime-Toronto stuff? Less of using YHZ as a hub, or do they plan to keep it the same?
I know it's all just gossip but it's interesting gossip for the East Coasters in the room...

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
Well, if we want to talk about rumours and add some speculation for entertainment, here's another one that may be related. Apparently, at the behest of AC, Jazz is moving 6 DH1 that were planned for retirement at year-end out west to cover off the the DH3 flying so that those aircraft can consolidated in the east. With that being said, perhaps AC could replace the EVAS flying with Jazz if they deferred the retirement of additional DH1 aircraft, it's not like they are hard to come by. Anything larger capacity wise to replace EVAS would likely be excessive.
Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
The -100's are going to YYC to cover the ex-ggn 1900 routes.
There is a significant amount of Q400 flying into and out of YHZ. The lack of bid and memo that came out said that they were NOT opening a yhz base. Its a lot of work and cost to do that if its not going to last. I wondered what they were going to do with the -100's.. other than send them to africa with Voyaguer..

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
In the small likelihood that this rumour turns out to be true, any idea how much advance notice Jazz employees would get that it is happening before it does so?
Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
It's no rumour. One of the 100's will be moving to YVR for the YCG route

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
The YYC guys and gals will likely be doing it since the YVR DH8 base is now officially closed and the company kiboshed the idea of the Q400 doing YCG.
I did hear from a manager that AC wants (in the not too distant future) to no longer have any B1900 CPA flying, but have not yet heard of the -100s doing the EVAS flying but that would be the logical aircraft choice.

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
Jazz is a publicly traded company so the employees are usually the last to find out. ie: if they told us they were ordering 50 CRJ 900s next week it would cause the share price to rise and would be insider trading of sorts.

Has there been any more news/rumours about -100s being operated out west ?
Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
Not really a rumour. The -100s are going west to do the ex B1900 routes like Lethbridge and Red Deer and of course Cancelgar which the Q400 can’t do.

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
The 100s are doing YQL, YXH, YCG etc. Red Deer was terminated a year + ago.
The Q400 can for sure do YCG, will just depend if Jazz/AC wants to do that. They used to operate 737-200s in and out of YCG back in the day so to say Q can’t lol
Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
It can, but Jazz has decided it won’t be operating into YCG anytime soon.

Re: Jazz YHZ Base Rumours
Currently no plans to scrap the evas contract. Any jazz yhz base would be probably compliment the evas flying.
