Constant speed prop on cubs

Post by Relic »

has anyone out there installed a constant speed prop on a super cub or PA-12?? I'm considering doing this to my 12. With the Sutton STC. Would you recommend it?

What are you looking at doing that would require a CS prop on the 12? I'm not sure if it would be worth it. You would be adding a lot of complexity and weight for little performance gain. More maintenance too! Not that it can't be done. The 12 has the O-235 doesn't it? Not all of them can be fitted with the CS prop. Maybe a ground adjustable prop would work?

as above, asked an ame same question on a supercub, reply was add 40 # for an extra 8 kts, and +100fpm, but add about 20$/hr for maintenance. now if your using a 160 or 180 it "may be worth it" but probably not. A slick Lasar may be more cost effective

try supercub.org with this question

Would be installed on an O-360....My main goal is to get a better cruise speed but not to sacrifice any performance. I've been running a fine pitched borer prop but the slow cruise drives me nuts.
