EAA AirVenture Oshkosh July 28 - Aug 3, 2014

Post by Pop n Fresh »

The artist formerly known as Beefitarian might not be able to go because of work.

Yes you read that right.

I am in awe that you know what you are going to
be doing in six months.

I don't know what I'm going to be doing next week.

Busted. I don't really know what I'm going to do tomorrow. I have this rough idea of what is likely to happen but if opportunity knocks I'll open the door and jump into it's arms like a new bride.

You must not want to go very badly if you'll let work get in the way.

About the only reason I wouldn't go is if my plane blows up or my arteries do. And since neither of those things is likely to happen - I'm going to Oshkosh!!

As per every year , I am patiently waiting for Mar 1st so that I can set up my show credentials
Once that is done the Oshkosh fever starts ramping up

Well first day was pretty good. There's still this.

But taking a couple weeks off does not sound unheard of, the manager said, "That's fine. I'll mark it on the calendar. " When asked if the assistant manager had told him Feb 6 - 18 was booked off.

I'm still married. Nothing is simple.

I'm not really feeling like the same guy as when I joined as Beefitarian, yet I'm that guy. Things are good. There's a little less of me, I got my PPL back. I played at a public jam. Kids are healthy. The sore on my dog's foot is better...

I finally got a paying job that seems like it will fit in with my other more important jobs. Things got desperate enough, (possibly out of some form of boredom) earlier this year I applied at McDonalds.

In an attempt to keep everything moving in positive directions for this virtual community and me. New account.

We're talking about a few other things that might happen this summer. There's a wedding, mom in-law's trip is coming up. AirVenture is easily as good as all the descriptions. It's pretty likely we will return. Not sure when. Maybe we will fly in next time. They should hold it in Saskatchewan sometime. We could go there much easier.

A big part of OSH is the journey there and back.
It wouldn't be the same without it.

We're not ready to fly there this year. Mr. Bach has quite a few books I don't recall hearing about.

Well, maybe some year. A high-wing is best. Get one
of those blue tarps from Canadian Tire to stretch over
the wing to keep the rain off your tent, which you want
to keep dry, and mostly use to keep the bugs out.

"No side by side, no under and over"!

Every pilot, at least once in his life, should fly into OSH
and camp on the North 40. Have a beer at Friar Tuck's
at the end of the day, all sunburned and smiling with
hurt feet.

Tent technology has come quite along way since 1979. They're pretty close to water proof. I was too chicken to try Friar Tuck's, looked good. I found a few good places to chat with pilots and have a beer.

We checked out http://www.ardyandeds.com/ it was ok, watch out for wasps.

Well it did not look inexpensive. Do they allow minors? Ended up going where the wife wanted to. I was happy to be there and she did not even pick any bad places.

Your sense of humor does not change. I am thinking of changing my forum id to something more aviation like. Hmmm, "maverick" or "ice man". Are those taken?

After experiencing intense OshKosh Withdrawal last year I'm pretty sure I'm going to make the trek again this year.

Not in the cub though, my a$$ is still sore from the 26 hours I spent in that flying refrigerator box.

I'm thinking I'll take the Cherokee and am debating joining the mass arrival.

The objective being to attend as many Airventures as possible and never fly the FISK.
