Hey pal, whining about people whining, guess what still whining. Calling people gutless and anonymous while keeping your own anonymity, is, well gutless.SRV wrote:hey friend-I'm not whiningmbav8r wrote:I don't see your signature attached to your post, same could be said about you!SRV wrote:Ever notice it is usually gutless, anonymous, self-entitled whiners that knock other companies. I don't know you but odds are I was a Captain before you left high school, I've had the last 9 or so Christmas and New Years off, most importantly, my opinion of pilots who undercut other pilots doing the same work is earned. I walked the walk and didn't whore myself out to anyone, so you can support it or partake in it and I'll keep telling you what a dirtbag you are for doing it.

I Jazz a two tier outfit these days?atphat wrote: I'm assuming you are on the A scale at Jazz.
That's long been the strategy. In the 70s/80 new hires went on tier 2. Eventually all the top folks retire out, now what used to be the bottom is the top, and another lower tier gets introduced for new hires. If Jazz went that route, then it's the third generation of 'yet another tier lower' that I'm aware of.
Re: Why is Flair so Hated?
While the new pay sucks, there is no A or B scale, they added three years to the FO pay scale, year 1-3 are lower and year 4 is the old year 1 and so on. All pilots will top out at the exact same pay, except the classic dash which has a cap at year 8goldeneagle wrote:I Jazz a two tier outfit these days?atphat wrote: I'm assuming you are on the A scale at Jazz.

I'm on par to make 50k on year one. Without per diems... and I get 14-15 days off a month. Is it awesome? No, but it's OK.flyinhigh wrote:So it takes until year 4 to make 40k..

Re: Why is Flair so Hated?
You keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it means. "On par" suggests that you're just as good as someone who DOES make 50k, but for some reason you don't. You might try instead "I'm on track to make 50k in my first year", or maybe "It's looking like I might make 50k in this, my first year" or something like that.Black_Tusk wrote:

What's with everyone nitpicking individual words? First Cat Driver, now you. I guess I'm just not as smart as everyone here with their aviation diplomas and art degrees.Meatservo wrote:You keep using that word... I don't think it means what you think it means. You know exactly what I was trying to say, and how I say it doesn't change what I mean. If you took the time to read the rest of my post before jumping on the first 3 words I used, you would notice I said something along the lines of "Is it awesome? No, but it's OK."

But it could have to do with age and experience.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Sorry; it's just that I was on par to make my 2125th post on AvCanada, and I couldn't find anything else to make a comment about. I was on par to comment on the reversing prop for piston engines, but it looked like pilotDAR was on par to say just about everything there was to say about that. Otherwise, today's posts on on par to being about the boringest bunch of posts I've seen in a while. I'm on par to cook dinner, so I'd better go.

That would actually be the correct way to use "on par"

Sign of the times I suppose; using a lack of intelligence as a token of social superiority. Many professional people with science degrees, and/or no degree at all, also, for the most part, display reasonable grammatical proficiency. It's more a matter of having noticed, after being immersed in it for twenty years or more, how the language is used. An ability to notice certain procedures, assimilate them, and use them yourself, speaks to your ability to do the same in other areas of your life. Puts you on par with other professional people, so to speak.

No, but not giving a shit about your terrible grammar and implying that while people were wasting their time getting an education and learning to write you were doing more sensible and less pretentious "real" stuff certainly isn't, either. Why else would he have mentioned art degrees and aviation colleges? Like there's some credit for not going to school and not being able to string a couple of words together meaningfully. Come on.

Absolutely absurd thread drift. In my opinion it is both rude and disrespectful to the original poster, as she/he had a legitimate question.

Re: Why is Flair so Hated?
Yeah. And it was an excellent question, too. "Why is Flair so hated?" Who knows? Maybe because they have one of those stupid non-sequitur- one-word names that was all the rage not too long ago. Maybe because they have the reputation for low comparatively low wages, and people find it professionally embarrassing.
Why are Brussels sprouts so hated? Why does almost no-one speak Esperanto? Why are Lemon sharks everyone's least favourite shark?
Who cares?
It wasn't a very good question in the first place. If they still had the "water cooler", stuff like this wouldn't happen. Personally I find the thread drift is often much more entertaining than the original topic. It's a kind of de facto criticism, if you like.
