Trump's highly successful at stiffing his business partners and making it not worth their while to sue him. He's a star at defrauding people out of their money with fake universities and bogus charities. And he's a savant at conning millions of people into thinking he'll make America (and by extension them) great again. Just look at the people on this forum who still think he's wonderful...positively scary.
Other than that he's a train wreck and a disgusting example of humanity.

Maybe Donald's top personal pilot is to inept to find another job so he has stayed with him for twenty eight years?

He continued to be useful to him perhaps?

You got my curiosity piqued. $300M invested at an average rate of return of 6.5% over 40 years would equal $4,010,880,745.13, just a tick better than $4B.

The Lucky Sperm Club gave him his start but seeing as how his dad died with $300 million and the Donald is worth in the neighborhood of $4 billion he's still an astute businessman. I definitely could see how your hate of him could cloud your vision though.
Re: Hornet flyby over football game too scary for people
Not such an astute businessman. Lots of failed ventures. He would be a lot richer if invested his money in index funds.

That's fine, you can blather on and on about how becoming President of the United States and being super rich and so on is really just a sign of failure. Why not, everyone's entitled to define things as they see fit these days, even gender.
But - I'd still rather trade places with Trump than any of the jealous haters on AvCanada.
And it's not like anyone should be bragging about the alternatives - look at these clowns:
Bromance Blossoms as Fanboy Slim meets Justin Biebeau
(Hilarious article - god I love Father Ted!) These two (and Macron) are every bit as disgusting and eager to lap up the cult of celebrity as Trump. Zero substance. Less than nothing.
This is why I claim no affiliation to any party or part of the "political spectrum".

Well, neither has had to pay millions to settle fraud suits. Neither bragged on tape of molesting women. Neither spews unfiltered, undiluted, unrelenting bullshit. Neither of them have the maturity of a sociopathic four year old, and neither of them have proven themselves utterly incompetent.complexintentions wrote:(Hilarious article - god I love Father Ted!) You must be using a strange set of standards to equate the three.
Re: Hornet flyby over football game too scary for people
For the most part accurate. However, Trump was still a better choice than Hillary or Bernie.Rockie wrote:Trump's highly successful at stiffing his business partners and making it not worth their while to sue him. ...umm, have you actually read or listened to anything Maggie's Mistake has said over the last year or so? I.e. "If you kill your enemies they win", forgetting that Alberta is part of Canada, forgetting that Kim Campbell was our first female PM (That's the sort of thing you'd think a feminist would remember), etc..... Do you really want to hang your hat on Maggie's Mistake being competent? Just so we're clear, in the interest of good sportsmanship I'm offering you a mulligan.Rockie wrote:Neither spews unfiltered, undiluted, unrelenting bullshit. In coherent sentences, why?B208 wrote:However, Trump was still a better choice than Hillary or Bernie.
Competent? I haven't seen any major mistakes so far.B208 wrote:Do you really want to hang your hat on Maggie's Mistake being competent? Just so we're clear, in the interest of good sportsmanship I'm offering you a mulligan.
Infinitely more competent than Trump who has thus far unsurprisingly displayed only staggering incompetence and ignorance in everything he touches and every syllable out of his empty head? Uh...yes.

Did you know Mike Pense used a private server when he was governor? Should Trump be in jail for vaingloriously blabbing Israeli intelligence on ISIS and potentially risking someones life so he could puff his chest out to the Russian foreign minister? Do you care that Trump and his entire family are openly using his office to further their business interests in violation of not only conflict of interest laws, but the very constitution Trump swore to defend? Clinton was cleared yet Trump is the subject of an ever widening FBI investigation. Does that matter, or even register on your radar screen?Cat Driver wrote:Well for starters Rockie Hillary should be in jail over her E-mail fiasco. In coherent sentences, why?
Again, I could go on all day. Yet you guys are stuck in a time loop over something the FBI investigated then cleared, and is about someone who has nothing to do with anything today. She is not the President of the United States!!!
Get with the program...

Well you finally got something correct.
She is not the president of the United States because Trump beat her.
Congratulations for finally getting it correct.

The question is, when are Trump and people like you going to realize the glory of that feat (such as it is) ended on January 20th, 2017. That, in case it escaped you (as it has Trump) is the day that idiot actually became the President and needed to do the f**king job.
I'll say it again...get with the program.

Your math is off a little since he didn't start with anywhere near $300 million and his father didn't die till 1999 anyway. Keep telling yourself what a bad businessman he his if it makes you happier.

Be that as it may, lets just say it never hurts to have a boost from entering a family business to enable you to make a lot of money become a butt-load of money. Never was inclined to venerate just the making of cash. Always had much more respect for people that leave a mark as well. Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Nikola Tesla, Edison, Marconi and many more.
It must be admitted, that it's probably safe to say DJT is the only person to run for the office who's motivation was foremost a branding opportunity. He and his family will without a doubt end up incalculably more wealthy after he leaves office. Sadly, he's far from alone in looking at public office as a way to wealth enhancement. That much is sadly human nature and despite notable & noble efforts to (using the current phrase) "drain the swamp", but alas, as Jack Aubrey might have said "Sisyphus ain't in it".
The really sad part is that in the US anyway (for the record, I was actually born in Washington D.C.) if you don't use a position of public office to enrich yourself (and such people do actually exist), then you're scoffed at as a loser by the very people who voted for you. Of course, on the bright side, if it was not ever thus we wouldn't have had Mark Twain, HL Mencken, Hunter S Thomson, Will Rogers or Molly Ivins either. I'm reminded of a quote from the last of the Medici Popes, Leo X to his brother, Giuliano: "Since God has given us the papacy, let us enjoy it!"

Dude, I'll say it again; Hillary was so crooked and had such a stench of corruption about her that she lost to the Donald. That's the program. I don't expect you to get it; you backed a drama teacher whose chief advisor is responsible for destroying Ontario's economy.Rockie wrote:You don't think the world noticed at around 0500Z on November 9th, 2016? Rockie, it doesn't matter a pinch that you don't like Trump. Millions don't, but guess what? He's a billionaire President of the US and you're a...wait for it...pilot.

Re: Hornet flyby over football game too scary for people
It's not necessary to like Trump, it is necessary that he be competent to do the job. It's necessary for reasons you cannot understand that he actually does what he swore to do last January. It's necessary for reasons you fail to comprehend that the rest of the world besides Russia is able to rely on the United States on a whole host of subjects.xsbank wrote:Rockie, it doesn't matter a pinch that you don't like Trump. It wouldn't have been necessary to like Clinton either had she been elected. Yet amazingly long after she ceased to be a factor your pathological , and irrelevant hatred of her still blinds you to Trump's faults and believe me, his team knows it. Whenever he does something spectacularly stupid and immature (every day) all they have to do is say the word "Clinton" and people like you start slobbering like dogs chasing an imaginary squirrel. Pathetic.
When are people like you going to finally get over the fact Clinton hasn't died yet and hasn't been enprisoned, and start holding Trump to the ethical, moral, legal and competency standards his office demands? As you're fond of saying but have no apparent clue what it means, he's the President.
