So much wrong here....
1. Investigation agencies find out why something happened. If it's because of something the crew did or didn't do they say so. Enforcement action if it's necessary is the regulators job, not the investigators. As a professional pilot you should know this.
2. Unions have no more interest keeping incompetent pilots in the seat than you do. What unions want -
and are required by law to do - is represent the pilot accused of incompetence to ensure they are given a fair hearing. You know...the same principle our justice system is based on. As a professional pilot and citizen of a free country you should know that too.
3. The industry has a no fault safety reporting culture because they learned a long time ago it's by far the most effective way to learn about issues that impact safety. Competency is dealt with in training and checking, and deliberate negligence or noncompliance to rules, regulations and policy are dealt with as they always have been.
None of the above is in any way a comment on the incident in SFO, but rather a likely futile attempt to educate
you on simple things
you should already know.
