Ah Montréal. Ville aux cent clochers. Ville aux cent Jazz hatter.
Re: New hire bids
So it appears that 80% of Jazz new-hires are assigned to vacancies in YUL and then 90% of those pilots bid out of YUL ASAP resulting in 80% of all Jazz new-hires being assigned to vacancies in YUL.....
Re: New hire bids
Hi All,
What is the upgrade time?
Schedule?
Is YVR a senior base?
Thanks

Re: New hire bids
YVR used to be very senior, now its the opposite. The RJ is still quite senior for Captains but the Dash is very junior. Upgrades in a little over a year I believe on the classic -8

Re: New hire bids
The quick upgrade merry-go-round will continue for as long as junior Jazz CA move to AC. Given the AC rejection rate, CA attrition will slow as will upgrade opportunities.Inverted2 wrote:YVR used to be very senior, now its the opposite. Re: New hire bids
How many Jazz captains stay with Jazz after getting rejected from AC? I'd imagine some would go to Transat, Sunwing, WJ or overseas.
Re: New hire bids
Most captains that get the PFO are staying so what rudder said is correct. Hard to give up the decent pay, vacation, good (but costly) benefits and DB pension and go elsewhere to start over. The quick upgrade thing is going to slow down at Jazz. YUL will likely remain a revolving door for a while though. Retirements slowly pick up but not for another 4-5 years. Tons in the 55-60 age range here.

What are the chances of a YVR base after initial groundschool?

Re: New hire bids
It all depends on the type you get in GS for a YVR Base. Lately YVR has been decently junior at the bottom of most types. But I’d expect YUL to start.

YYZ and YUL. I think each type at the base. 12 hires in the class.A V I A T O wrote: ↑Tue Jan 09, 2018 7:04 pm What were the bases and equipment available for this last round of new hires?
A mile of road will take you a mile, but a mile of runway can take you anywhere

Re: New hire bids
If you are assigned CYYZ base and you live in YUL how much time will it take to transfer ?
Re: New hire bids
Id guess less than a month.CanadianPilotQc wrote: ↑Wed Jan 10, 2018 2:31 pm If you are assigned CYYZ base and you live in YUL how much time will it take to transfer ?

Re: New hire bids
YUL is the Jr. base and there are always loads of pilots wanting out. Chances are you'd never even get YYZ as a base as YUL positions go after everything else, so if you pick first... you take the YUL base. If you pick last, chances are it will still be available.

Re: New hire bids
Heard they revised the hiring numbers for 2018 to 140-190 pilots down from 400. (from two sources)
and looks like we are "overstaffed" over the baseline for the first time on this last bid.
