Pilot training and the possible shortage questions
Hello,
Im thinking about taking a 2 year aviation flight course next fall and was wondering if anyone had an opinion on if there will still be allot of movement for the next few years? Enough to keep the hiring up? Do airlines like Air Georgian hire a good amount of college graduates? Also will having both an aviation maint. diploma and a flight diploma give me an extra edge when it comes to graduating and looking for that first job?
Thanks!

If anyone who knows the answer to this can also PM me some stock prices for the next five and ten years, I'd be obliged.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

Two years isnt that hard to predict especially if you actually work for those airlines. As for the other questions I don't think you need to see the future to answer those.
Just looking for some advice is all.

There is no shortage of 250 hour pilots. There most likely won't be one. There is still a big pool of people with 250 hours or less trying to get into a flying job. Once you have around a 1000 hours you'll be interesting for companies and you're pretty much "guaranteed" to find a job nowadays.
It is WAY better than it used to be, but it still kind of sucks at the bottom. Maybe it will changed, but I wouldn't bet 65k CAD on it.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Pilot training and the possible shortage questions
It’s not impossible to get on with Georgian or another small airline with 250 hours, but your chances are slim.
High movement doesn’t help 250 wonders skip the line, it helps them get their first jobs instructing or dropping skydivers while those pilots are going to fly Navajos or Metros because those pilots have gone on to Georgian.
Places like Georgian want guys they can upgrade in a year. They want someone who isn’t going to be a liability to the captain who’s only got a year or two on the 1900 himself.

If you want to go in to the airlines out of college, best program i can think of is The Honours of Bachelor of Aviation and Technology at Seneca College, graduates go as FO with GGN, Sunwing and JAZZ, at least that's what I've been told at their open house.
