An-124 landing on nose-gear
A shocking photo of an An-124 landing on its nose gear. I do not understan how it could not collapse under that huge weight. Are they made in a special way on those airplanes?

The wings are still flying, and bearing most of the weight. its not ideal though

Re: An-124 landing on nose-gear
This isnot too shocking, i've seen this before on An-124s, IL-76s and An-32s. Infact SOPs for An-32s take into account landing on the nose wheel and are made in accordance. If you notice, all the three aircraft I mentioned, come in on a very shallow angle during approach, holding the nose low till the final flare where they usually put down all three . An-32s for one can be totally fine coming down on all three. It has to do some design factor.

I asked xchox about this very thing several months ago given he/she is the resident expert on Russian Aviation. Pretty standard apparently. Also, they are apparently designed to take repeated nose first landings. Also standard is throwing the reversers prior to touch down. Cool stuff.
