Seriously? That would be enough to get me to consider applying. I looked at the pay scales in the contract and they were definitely lower than WS. Considering that this is all untaxable money, that would seriously close the gap.

It is serious. Gravelpapi has published the link for the cba earlier (it is public of course). You also have the winter deployment, less lucrative but still an extra 1500 $ a month of perdiem plus apt and car provided.
What is missing is some of the Summer deployment since we have an lou.

Did I just see Sunwing has a bond? Seriously at this level?

There is no bond as far as I know unless they just started.George Taylor wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2017 6:02 pm Did I just see Sunwing has a bond? Seriously at this level?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
No skippers are going to China. Captains here make pretty good money considering the 1.5 hourly rate above 90 hours and the 2.0 rated above 100 hours in combination with the deployment intensives. Day pairing are very productive so you have lots of time off to pick up over time on your days off at a rate of 2.0.
We have a lot of pilots leaving for AC. I hear about 5 per month. Mostly FO's and a few young captains although I haven't heard of any captains who have left
We also have lots of FO's who don't meet the upgrade matrix of 5,000 total time and 2,000tt on jet aircraft of over 100,000lbs. Rumor has it there is a big upgrade announcement in the new year and they might have to go down the list pretty far.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
90+ hours is a lot of time to be shoehorned into a 737 cockpit. How many days per month are Sunwing guys working on average?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
It really depends on what you bid your base and also of your seniority and as well the time of the year.
But usually max would be around 10, more if you accept gdo flying, min around 4 with a lot of reserve of course.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Thanks for all the info. So is there any GS planned for this winter or not? Usually the TFWs come in around this time of the year. Anyone?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Does that mean it is a commutable schedule? 10 days on 20 days off? Or not really?
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
It would be pretty difficult to keep all the day of work together specially if you're junior.
There are quite a few commuters though, so it works for them.
A way to make the commute less painful is to deploy.
For instance if you are based in YYZ and you live in YWG, chances are you can be award the YWG base for the winter.
Or even if your deployed base isn't your home base, at least, you have your crash pad and your car paid plus 1500$ a month.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
10+ reserve?
How many reserve days are guys on the bottom getting a month?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
If you're flying 10 days than that's it for the month unless you accept overtime /gdo flying.
10 days will amount roughly to 80 to 90 hours credit. The rest of your month will be a mix of gdo and days off.
As for the bottom guys on reserve, I would say around 10 days on reserve. You might fly 2 to 3 days of those.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
One thing I like about where I'm at now is that there is no reserve system. I never have liked sitting around for the phone to ring.
30 hours a month of actual stick time isn't a lot of time.
Just curious though, how long would it take a guy to get off of reserve and hold a block?

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
Do you have to go to Europe in the summer or is that optional? Can you get laid off and come back the following winter instead?
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
You can be forced for up to 90 days but with the way things are going now I wouldn't worry too much about it. There are always more than enough people who want to go to Europe. There were a few LOA's offered this past summer. I'm not sure if I would count on getting the whole summer though. There is still a fair bit of flying done at the Canadian bases but obviously not near as much as the winter months.
Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
What is the assessment of pairings/schedule when the new FT/DT rules kick in January 2019?
Seems that a lot of the longer single day turns will be illegal.

Re: 2018 Pilot Hiring
No call backs yet, and I am assuming none til the new year.
I suppose the next best question is; Does anyone have an idea when ground school starts in Jan and Feb? I would imagine calls would start 2-weeks prior.
