What kind of watch do you wear?

Post by big_sky »

Looking for some recommendations on a decent men's pilot watch, anything within the price range of $500-2K.

Cheers

Fossil, but they don't run in that price range.

Citizen Ecodrive Nighthawk. It's got an E6B bezel so it's somewhat pilot-y.

Rollex Submariner. You may have to shop around a fair bit to find one for 2k.

Honestly - get a decent Timex or Casio G-Shock. They keep time just as well, have decent functions, and you don't have to worry about losing it, getting jacked for it, dropping/bashing/getting it wet, etc..

I'd imagine people shopping for a BMW or Tesla would ignore advice from someone telling them to get a Ford Focus.

This is my current watch, a Citizen Eco Drive. It has held up nicely in various weather conditions and looks and feels a lot more high end than it's price.

I am a big fan of Hamilton watches. Great quality for the price.

This is my next watch.

I've got a G-Shock now, great watch, but I'm looking for something a little nicer that I can still wear day to day, 705 turboprop driver here.

Garmin D2 Charlie. Hard to get more pilot-y than a watch that has an airport database and moving map GPS.

Hey, the advice on here is worth what we all paid for it  My experience with Aston Martins is to tell people to buy a Ford! :smt040

It’s a very nice watch, gmt hand. I like it, it’s big though, you need big wrists.

They are automatics, quite accurate.

They have other aviation models.

Pocket Watch Iphone.... best watch I could ever own and don't have to wear something clunky on the wrist that looks like I am trying to win the "who has the biggest watch contest."

I'm not much for a 'pilot' watch.. and those that say 'the iPhone will do' obviously haven't had theirs die mid day without a charger handy...

I like a lot of the Nixon brand. Some pretty classy ones. I have a couple from the Sentry line. Not overly expensive either.

If I were to spend some bucks, it'd be a classic breitling navitimer or an IWC. But.. way above the 2k mark.

Like the girls in Asia say...."Must be pilot, biiig watch...noooo money"...

I have the Citizen Skyhawk Eco-Drive. I have had to replace the glass on it twice and the second time I sent it in I asked them for Sapphire. They only charged me 30 bucks and it hasn't got a scratch on it yet. So I would go with something with harder glass than mineral glass as it is garbage.

At this point, a wristwatch is jewelry. Your cockpit has at least one chronometer and unless you're in a casino, there are clocks everywhere.

I've never enjoyed wearing anything on my wrist so I haven't since I was 15, always kept it in my pocket, always Timex. However, if I ever had the urge to buy some wrist jewelry then I'd go with a half decent Tag, always liked their designs.

If you really want to be cool, get a smart watch. Still have to charge it though.

I have the Casio Pathfinder Titanium PAW1100T. Like the large dual screens for GMT/local time. Has nightly atomic clock synchronization, solar recharging, comfortable and secure band, and good light. If you like a larger watch with several extra features that you may or may not use such as a compass, barometer and altimeter you might want to look at the different Casio Pathfinder watch options.

I have had this watch for several years and have had no issues. The time is always accurate with the nightly atomic clock synchronization.

This baby is not too expensive. Solar powered and updates the time every night when it’s able to get a radio signal. You can change time zones pretty easily when you travel. Solid, I’ve had it for 3 Years, abused it all over and still in good shape.

Not sure I understand those g-shock guys, I’ve seen em around. Come on, a little style!
