Serious threads

Is there anyway to declutter particular threads of smilies, avatars and stupid signatures (yea, I am a prime example)? I know it's impossible to get everyone to shut them all down, and they just come back in the post once you reactivate them. Particularly when we lose someone in aviation and there is a posting on it, it may be nice just to have a straight text posts of people posting their condolences and memories.
I'm a little ashamed that I made a condolence post and had a signature with a dog dragging his ass across the bottom "feels so good". For all other posts, I feel its highly necessary though.

Is that possible, or am I dreaming?

There is an option to turn sigs and avatars on and off with the press of a button on the admin control panel. Might be a seperate mod though.
