Skydive plane damaged, never seen this go before

Post by CL-Skadoo! »

I always maintained that we were out of ways to auger in an aircraft, turns out I was wrong. I just worry about how many previous accidents could be attributed to the exact same failure.
If I was still an aircraft owner, this would worry me to death.

Well, the design requirement for that specific piece of aircraft equipment is pretty vague, they don't always have the best quality control. I've never seen an STC'd/PMA'd one, so perhaps is just the OEMs who install them. In any case, it's still a design requirement that an aircraft be flyable and landable without electrical power, so you wouldn't think that should be a reported factor in an accident!

Geez, you'd think the aircraft's owner would have dealt with that in 1955!

SOP when it quits is to bang it with a closed fist. It should fire right up again. This should have been a non-issue.

Once he gets it running again I'm sure he will. And then the accident won't happen. And then this thread will disappear.

Can't even pronounce it correctly. I've heard of a capacitor, but what's a "capacatater"?
