Though Thorn said that if he didn’t have to catch his connecting flight, he would’ve met the captain.

“I meet up with people all the time from Grindr,” Thorn said. “I think I totally would have met him for coffee.”
I honestly have no clue how to respond to this. Buddy likes to meet people on this "app". Buddy meets someone, says he's friendly, runs to media? I regret giving this much time to it.

So there you have it, a funny story you share with friends can easily mutate into an alarmist news story.

So at some airlines flight attendants are disciplined for putting the moves on passengers, but at this one, some young rake in the cockpit spends time in flighttrolling through the passenger compliment looking for a squire on an online sex-app and no-one bats an eye? I hate to sound like my gran here, but is this what we've come to in terms of professional behaviour?

I guess the real issue here is, when he sprints off to the lav for ten minutes after one of the passengers sends him a dick-pic, can the other pilot be trusted to be on "Grindr" at the controls alone, or should a flight attendant join him on the flight deck?

Masterservo

Let me bring back the time when a female pilot at air canada had put in a complaint for finding pornography in the cockpit on a AC plane.
Clearely they most likely weren't "young rakes" in the flight deck back then as this was pre massive 2015 hiring spring.

Also grindr is a social network not a sex app otherwise it would violate apple / google terms when you donwload.

I wouldnt come up so quickly to conclusions whether or not he can be trusted left alone in the cockpit. Beccause of course we never see pilots reading the news papers, doing sodukos , or puzzles on an ipad in the cock pit, right?

Because we’re supposidely professionals. Imagine if a doctor did the same thing to a patient in his waiting room.

Do whatever you want in your free time. But when on duty, act the part.

It could be Tinder, Grindr, don’t care. Focus on your job.

LOL. Pilots are not doctors, nor are they required not to have pilot/pax relationships. A doctor/patient relationship is a big no no.

Grindr is essentially the gay tinder, it can be used for anything from hookups to seeking relationships.

Take any other professions. Doing what this guy did, at work, is unacceptable, by any professional standards.

So (professional) Pilots want the respect appropriately given to a professional -- just see all the posts about pay and working conditions on that -- without any expectation to act professionally in their rules about interactions?

Got it.

Are you out of your mind? This guy trolling for dick amongst his passengers while flying them displays an astonishing lack of professionalism. Why not just wait until you've landed?

So... ninety minute flight, ninety seven minutes between message and screenshot taken after landing, and a profile pic taken over the nose of a light prop-driven single. Are we sure the pilot actually did anything wrong here?

LOL. Personally I don't care. Certainly a slow news day for that to be a story.

Although the fact that little kids don't ooh and ah at seeing a pilot in uniform -- certainly shouldn't be a surprise, right?

No, but we like to jump to conclusions, especially for such taboo things as dating apps.

The story is probably a plant from robots, trying to make us humans look bad.

Agreed. Between this and the university that’s arming staff and students with hockey pucks to defend against active shooters being somehow newsworthy, I assume world peace has been achieved.
