Yea. The ‘pillow’ guy
In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

True, if you don’t include the United States as part of North AmericaThe Jazz contract was better 10 years ago but not by much... I think it is still one of the best contracts for a regional carrier in NA.
Re: TA Passed.
Perhaps you should do some research before committing to stupid responses, go have a look at the pay scales for the US regionals and get back to us.JohnnyHotRocks wrote: ↑Sun Feb 03, 2019 8:53 amTrue, if you don’t include the United States as part of North AmericaThe Jazz contract was better 10 years ago but not by much... The only thing going on that’s better, is signing bonuses which can and will be removed if they don’t need them, the shit pay is still there.

Ha, I flew with this guy. What a train wreck. He was pushed from GGN. Last I heard he was flying in Burma. I heard about the pillow. What happened with locking an FO out?

Full years of service, $10000 bonus, ALL open time 150%-200%, 100% DH pay, 100% DC match up to 12.5%.
I’m not saying agreements in the US are relevant for bargaining in Canada since that’s not how it works. But clearly aviation is better on all fronts state side right now.
Re: TA Passed.
He got into a small petty argument on the way into YPR if I remember, on the way back to YVR he waited till the FO went for a piss then never let him back for a undetermined period of time (rumor has it, it was a good 20-30min). It is one of the reason that Jazz implemented and kept the FA in the flight deck policy. Unbelievably, he wasn't fired for this (although I'm sure it got him on thin ice). The story why he got fired is much more hilarious.

Re: TA Passed.
There is a graphic out there of Jazz (old rates and new rates), GGN, Skyregional and Encore.
It is not pretty. Jazz looks a little bad FO 1-4 but after that Jazz is light years above the others.
Re: TA Passed.
Here we go again.
Look past the starting pay.
Encore has no min day, no 85 hours of sick time a year, everyone works 18-19 days a month, low per diems, no trip or duty rig, health insurance is ok but not anywhere near what Jazz has.
Starting pay is only one tiny small part of the picture.
I compared pay checks to a friend of mine at Encore and it's not pretty. He works 18 days a month and takes home less than I do. I work 4 days less than him on average and make more money. Some days he gets paid less than two hours of pay! No credit for DHd they only get paid when operating so have fun deadheading from YYC to YYZ to operate a Tbay turn and make 3 hours.
You also top out way sooner at Encore, so when you inevitably get stuck at Encore have fun making even less.

The fa in the flight deck no longer applies for the Q or RJdaedalusx wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 10:24 amHe got into a small petty argument on the way into YPR if I remember, on the way back to YVR he waited till the FO went for a piss then never let him back for a undetermined period of time (rumor has it, it was a good 20-30min). Encore has an unlimited sick bank.
Encore has a maximum of 18 working days a month.
The average number of days worked per month is published with each schedule and is 16 days per month at both bases.
Per Diems are $3.2581/h TAFB
Deadheads are paid at half credit
You won't get stuck at Encore because there is guaranteed flow to Mainline. Not 90% success rate of 60% of spots, 100% success rate of 50% of spots.
I'm not saying Encore is better, but at least fact check.

Re: TA Passed.
Ok I know who you mean. Likes his food . 2 sides to every story . He was not pushed from GGN . He quit because of safety concerns . Coming from Jazz to GGN must be hard . Jazz follows SOPs and they have excellent maintenance. I was his f/o a couple of times at GGN and he actually dealt with some challenging issues that a less experienced guy may have gotten into trouble with. Plus I saw him handle the craziest flight attendant on the line. When I say crazy , I mean bat shit certifiable . He handled her better than anyone. Maybe they were a match made for each other. We got to YYZ and he went to the crew room and called the CP and put a stop to her shit . She is a hefty fire spitting beast who could probably wrestle him to the ground but he was not having any of her crap or door slamming tactics . BTW - The flight deck door policy started because of German Wings. The only thing I will say about him is he was not poster boy or Mr. personality. But if you did your job he would bury his nose in his newspaper and leave you alone . Old Dicky was a character , I'll say that about him.daedalusx wrote: ↑Mon Feb 04, 2019 10:24 amHe got into a small petty argument on the way into YPR if I remember, on the way back to YVR he waited till the FO went for a piss then never let him back for a undetermined period of time (rumor has it, it was a good 20-30min).
