Jazz will be losing an average of 20+ per month to AC. GGN pilots that move to Jazz are included in that number. For March-December you are probably looking at 10-20 OTS hired at Jazz per month. Some months a little higher. Some months a little lower.

I bet they are repositioning the Classic fleet in part to take over East Coast flying when EVAS looses their CPA.rudder wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 9:09 amClassic D8’s in the east doing all of the old Air Alliance and Air Ontario routes from YUL/YYZ just like the 1980’s/1990’s.HansDietrich wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:54 am
I bet this is going to make a lot of people really happy. So they'll have the Q go into Castlegar, Cranbrook, Nanaimo and all the old DH8 routes? Is there even a demand for it? What are all those -300 going to do out East? Take over some of the Q routes? It looks to me that YYZ base is getting a handout with one hand and a slap with the other.
YYZ Q400’s being replaced by Rouge 319’s per ACPA RRA language. YQT/YQM/YFC/YSJ.
West is (basically) CRJ900/Q400 only.

Re: Bid 2019
As a new hire, what are the chances of getting assigned yyc base? Will there be a lot of ggn pilots bidding for yyc?

Re: Bid 2019
You will either get yyc or very soon after you start. Dont worry about the base. You can always change that.
Re: Bid 2019
If you do not hold a YYC Position in the new-hire Bid, make sure to select an Equipment type that is operated on the YYC Base. You can then change your standing bid to show current Equipment but different Base. YYC is showing all Equipment types but D8 roster is very small.Malfunction wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 1:40 pm You will either get yyc or very soon after you start. Dont worry about the base. That makes sense. Will I be able to bid for a different base whenever the company have opening or will I have to wait certain period before getting transferred?rudder wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 1:45 pmIf you do not hold a YYC Position in the new-hire Bid, make sure to select an Equipment type that is operated on the YYC Base. Re: Bid 2019
So that means 30-candidates GS per month including GGN pilots? Seems a big number!
Re: Bid 2019
Jazz hired and trained 450 pilots in 2017. 30 per month is well within Jazz capabilities.
Re: Bid 2019
You can bid for a different base at any time and you'll get it when there's a position open. It has to be the same plane though, you're frozen on type for 4 years unless you upgrade onto something elseflycomercial wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 2:09 pmThat makes sense. Re: Bid 2019
Will the 4 year FO type freeze be lifted for this new bid for current FOs?

I think maybe questions like this are better asked of your ALPA reps, rather than strangers on a forum...especially if you really want accurate answers.

Pretty much spot on the numbersKenoraPilot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 8:30 amMaximum on their roster eligible to join Jazz is 226. Of that how many go to AC directly, or choose not to join Jazz and stay at GGN or go elsewhere.....who knows. I'm gonna guess that about 200GGN pilots come to Jazz (roughly).
300+ more pilots, but massive reductions over time.....DH8 YVR base closure. Q400 YYZ reduced a lot. DH8 YYC reduced a lot.
Q YVR base doubles in size, DH8 in YYZ grows, and opening of CRJ YYZ base.
Going to be an interesting 2019/20
Re: Bid 2019
Bid results will show remaining vacancies for 2019 including January 2020.
Approximately 200 will leave for AC. 200 added from GGN. Lots of inefficiencies due to pilots in initial type training. OTS probably 15-20 per month April-December.
Re: Bid 2019
That is more or less correct. Read section 5-5 of the contract. Basically for each position reduced in YYZ off the Q, an equal number of open positions on the CRJ and/or Dash classic are considered base vacancies and those pilots based in YYZ will get first choice to bid on those positions before a pilot from another base. Since Georgian pilots technically don’t have a base on the Jazz roster , they have to bid a system vacancy and won’t necessarily get a YYZ RJ position.
