Building overseas

Post by dumbbell daddy »

Hey guys,

Just out of curiosity, has anyone partially built an experimental aircraft outside of Canada? I sometimes think about doing some contract work overseas and would like to continue building (composite)?

Take care

I know of one aircraft that was built in the Caribbean. Had to fly the MD-RA inspector down for pre close and final inspection. I can't remember if he finally took it apart and shipped it home or what.

Thanks for the reply. I actually got in touch with someone from the MD-RA. It sounds like it's actually pretty feasible to build something like an RV overseas. You wouldn't even need to fly a MD-RA inspector over as long as you left a certain amount of inspection panels open on your return. A composite aircraft on the other hand, seems like it would be a challenge because there's a few additional inspection steps.

Take care
