As an AC pilot ( Captain) , I will continue to make the PA's using the term " Ladies and Gentlemen". Then again, I greet people with a "Merry Christmas " and also " Happy Easter" when celebrating those holidays. I also wear a poppy proudly. I cannot remember one negative comment from the crew or passengers when addressed as such.
Cheers.

Personally I'm glad we "gave in" to those people who wanted to give women the vote, or allow same-sex marriages, and any other number of "concessions" to other people's "feelings". It says a lot about the people who consider this a battle that must not be conceded.

In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

I'll call you whatever you want to be called. As long as you behave and follow crew instructions. I'm not at all concerned about what anatomy you have or you wish you had.

The democratic party was right-wing at that time, and the republican party was more left wing. Hence the reason the Democrats supported slavery and the republicans worked to abolish it. Despicable stuff, I'm sure you'd agree.

That’s great. Do you want a cookie. Not once did I mention the Democratic Party.

But if you think the Democratic Party has always been left wing and the Republican Party right wing, here’s some history lessons. ;)

+1. It's also interesting that many of these same folks would lose their minds if someone would dare make the disrespectful suggestion that pilots are nothing more than overpaid bus drivers.

You're the one spelling "colored" wrong... and bringing up ridiculous comparisons.

The left playbook.

Label anyone who doesn't agree with them, about anything, bigot, homophobe, racist, whatever.

There is nothing wrong with saying ladies and gentlemen.

It might not be envogue with the woke PC bunch but it's a straight up classic. If you're offended, I wasn't talking to you, have a nice day and call yourself whatever you want.

The left playbook.

Label anyone who doesn't agree with them, about anything, bigot, homophobe, racist, whatever.
And the right's playbook is to label anyone who disagrees with them a communist, socialist, regressive, tree-hugging, snowflake, SJW, whatever.

So where does that leave us? Strictly speaking, the old terms of right and left hardly apply anymore. People belive what they want to believe and have become increasingly entrenched. FWIW, I find that I'm probably the most "left" minded person in, well, my entire world and I don't find that these naming conventions are brought up at all in any of the "left" circles. I mean I go to all the meetings and everything. I note however, that the other side of that argument (I won't call them right-wing since they don't like that) frequently manages to ferret out blogs or any articles of this sort which seems to take up a lot of their time and concern.

I'm not sure what's more depressing: That everyone has a price, or how low the price always is.

Well for sure a lot of bus drivers make more than some pilots.

As to the difficulty of operating an airplane it is somewhat more complex and does operate in a different enviorement than machines that are land bound.

But it is really not all that difficult to fly an airplane and as long as you are healthy and have normal mechanical ability you qualify to become a pilot.

True. Maybe some. I prefer to focus on policy. And I like trees......

It's interesting though in recent days. As Trudeau's campaign has unwound through repeated hypocrisy, his message has changed, shrieking, "don't elect the (bigoted) conservatives"! "Don't elect the hidden agenda". "You must stop them". "They're homophobic!!! "

Oh, the hysteria.

Fear mongering, again.

Those aren't examples of hypocrisy. This might be though:

Of course, when the right does this, it's horribly racist. For Trudeau? It was due to my "privilege" and something "we all make mistakes when we're young"

It doesn't really bother me how I greet people aboard the airplane. If it makes a few people feel a bit more welcome, then why not?

I think it's great to be inclusive and I applaud their desire to be progressive but I really do think they're going too far. Ladies and Gentleman sounds classier & more professional. Hey Everybody just sounds way too casual and informal. Reminds me of this guy.
