Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Thanks for the info, any idea if they are still doing a training bond?
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
If you're not type rated then yes, 2 years.
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Does anybody have an idea on what a CYVR/CYXX based CN or FO monthly roster looks like? How long are the pairings/groups of days off?
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Does anybody have an example of a CYVR/CYXX based CN's or FO's monthly roster. Curious what the pairing look like, how long and where to?
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Min 12 GDO's per month. Pairing are 1 or 2 days long (usually 2 days) with 12 hours total flight time (YVR-YYZ-YVR, YVR-YYC-YYZ, YXX-YEG-YXX-YEG-YXX etc). Most pilots averaging 14-18 days off per month since there are no 'grey days' etc.
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Thank you Soyer. Whats the roster look like for a YYZ based CN or FO? Pretty much the same?
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
YYZ has more flying and, apparently, will grow a lot this spring and summer. Right now there are day turns , YYZ-YVR-YYZ, which are popular, and two day pairing with overnights in YVR and YYC.
The long day turns are popular since 8 or 9 of those and you have hit your max hours. The max they can schedule us is 85 hour/month. SO when we get 15-20 GDO's (no grey days in our CBA) we can pick up OT on days off which pay double time. So an FO, that starts near $70,000/year can hit a $100 if he wants to work. I know there are junior Captains who will hit $200,000 with OT.

The new CARS annual (12 rolling months) flight time limit will be 1000 hours (down from current limit of 1200).
It will be very difficult in the future for pilots on a ‘hard time’ pay system to have any availability for overtime.
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
It will make overtime more difficult but 1020 credit hours doesn’t mean you will fly 1020 hours. I’m not sure how it works out at flair but where I work I get 1000hrs credit per year but fly nowhere near that. The most I’ve ever done in a year is 650ish.rudder wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 10:31 am85 x 12 = 1020Soyer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:24 am YYZ has more flying and, apparently, will grow a lot this spring and summer. Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
85 hours a month is credit time not flying time. All vacation, sim, training, GS etc has credit attached which leaves lots of room for OT.

Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
An FO could hit $100/year but 85/90/95 is more realistic. $200 for a junior captain isn’t realistic.Soyer wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:24 am YYZ has more flying and, apparently, will grow a lot this spring and summer. There a lot worse places to work than flair. We have our growing pains for sure but overall it’s pretty good. If half the expansion they say will happen actually does happen it’ll be good for anyone joining up in the next 6ish months.
If you can get an interview now I’d recommend joining. Beats swoop no question and if 4 years of flat pay isn’t an option for you....

Anybody’s guess to some degree. There are min requirements and a matrix that takes into account various possibilities regarding your time.
Certainly quicker than wja though.

Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Depends on where you fit into the upgrade matrix. There's a minimum time on weight category that needs to be met, but you get reductions from that requirement for time on other types (rj, dash, ATR etc) ,even B1900 in an airline capacity. You also get reductions for time with the company, however there are limits to how much credit reduction can be given. Could be anywhere from a few months to a couple of years but that's all dependant on available capt spots. There is ongoing hiring and expansion so spots need to be filled.
Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
Under the current plan and you meet the upgrade requirements it would be about 6-8 months.
If you don't meet the upgrade requirements then you'd fit into a matrix depending on previous experience.

Re: Hiring- B737 FO's CYYZ & CYVR/CYXX
As per the CBA the minimum requirements to upgrade to Captain/PIC at Flair are:
1. 5000 hours “Total Flight Time”
2. 2000 hours “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
Note: For each year at Flair a pilot may reduce their “Total Flight Time” by 500 hours per
year to a maximum reduction of 1000 hours.
Notwithstanding the above requirements Flair may take into account other experience and
allow a pilot to reduce the “Total Flight Time on Jets over 1000,000lbs” requirements for
upgrade according to the following matrix:
1. Jet PIC Airline (705/704) on EMB170/190 or CRJ 700-1000 – over 2000 PIC hours
qualify for upgrade.
2. Jet PIC Airline (705/704) on RJ/EMB – 1 to 1 credit for PIC hours to a maximum credit of
1500 hours towards the “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
3. Turboprop PIC Q400/similar Airline (705/704) – 1000 hours or more PIC reduces
requirement to 1000 hours “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
4. Turboprop PIC B1900/similar Airline (705/704) – 1000 hours or more PIC reduces
requirement to 1500 hours “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
5. Jet SIC Airline (705/704) on RJ/EMB – 2 to 1 credit to a maximum credit of 1000 hours
towards “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
*Options above cannot be combined.
*A reduction of more than 1500 hours will not be permitted.
* The term Airline refers to Canadian 705 (or 704) operations or the foreign equivalent.
* Matrix eligibility is any First Officer employed by Flair.
* The intent for options 2-5 is to ensure the candidate has completed an initial and at least
one recurrent simulator session(s). [in most cases a minimum of 6 months at Flair from final
initial line check]

Hello,
Can someone release a comment on how the training will look like for an already type rated FO?
Thanks
