Genesis Flight Academy

Post by Jetking »

Hello folks!

I’m researching on flight training schools which aren’t the ones through college or university programs and I found some good information about Genesis Flight school in Collingwood, they train on new glass cockpit Diamond planes and most importantly they would get your CPL with multi IFR done in 12-14 months with private college diploma. But costs are like 61k somewhere!

If you went there or have any experience or heard shouts from other people , please post your opinions, comments and reviews!
Appreciate your time! Thanks!

I probably have an unpopular opinion here, do NOT do your training on G1000 and autopilot, at least not from the beginning.
The reason being, once you have your CPL and group 1, you'll find that a lot of small operators are still using traditional 6 pack + tiny GPS, you will have trouble adjusting to those if all your IFR training was G1000 and autopilot.
If you start on steam gauges, it'll only take a few flights to figure out G1000, but it'll take much longer if you go the other way around.

I tend to agree as well.....I'm young but old at heart. I had 1 student come to me from another flight school who flew strictly G1000 equipped a/c that was nearing his flight test. While doing some cross-country work, he drifted off course and I asked him where he thought the wind was. He looked over at me, confused, and then said "I don't know, the G1000 used to tell us." It was at this moment, I realized you can on learning a 6-pack and transition to a G1000 reasonably easy. You can not, however, learn on glass and easily transition to a standard 6-pack steam gauge set up.

Yeah I totally agree on your opinions but nowadays Cessna, diamond or cirrus doesn’t make gauges compost anymore! They have stopped making just because of all modern aviation equipment
