Buying an airline that has completely ceased operations isn't what CR signed for.
If this deal doesn't fully unravel, it will certainly take a new appearance.

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if CR actually had something to do with that decision...
I think coordinating between companies like that before actual ownership/merge would be illegal. Doubt it.Jean-Luc Monette wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:08 amActually, I wouldn’t be surprised if CR actually had something to do with that decision...
I won’t share corporate info on a public forum but you would be surprised...aerodude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:14 amI think coordinating between companies like that before actual ownership/merge would be illegal. So you have direct knowledge that Air Canada and Transat are in violation of securities regulations?FL320 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:34 amI won’t share corporate info on a public forum but you would be surprised...aerodude wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:14 amI think coordinating between companies like that before actual ownership/merge would be illegal. Lol you’re that kind of guy...altiplano wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:48 amSo you have direct knowledge that Air Canada and Transat are in violation of securities regulations?
Apparently you are an insider, you are also on the record on this forum as having purchased the stock recently. You are breaking several laws and would be wise to report your self and the involved parties to the OSC.

So which is it, you won’t share corporate information or you don’t have any more than is already public?FL320 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 11:50 amLol you’re that kind of guy...altiplano wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 10:48 amSo you have direct knowledge that Air Canada and Transat are in violation of securities regulations?

I’m not an insider; I don’t have more information than what is publicly published. As for the shares; I use common sense...

Most Air Transat pilots are probably waiting to go back to work at Air Transat.Daniel Cooper wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 12:42 pm I'm curious if most laid of Air Transat are actively trying to pursue new jobs or are waiting for this buyout to happen? It's fun to speculate on what might happen but if it stops someone from advancing their career in the meantime it be harmful to them. If the dream of being merged into the ACPA seniority list instead of being laid off (while Air Canada pilots get laid off in their place?) gives them hope it can be helpful mentally. Not if it prevents them from moving on with their life though.

We're fortunate that the CFO of AC is posting here, and intimately familiar with the language of the contract. Whew.FL-280 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 3:00 pm You bet AC can pull out of this! This is a black swan, act of god, force majeur whatver you want to call it event. AC has been very silent, and there is no way they are spending 720M$ on an airline that isn't worth 100M$....
Transat guys can apply at AC when this is all done with if they want.
I was afraid of that. Time for some soul searching and asking yourself if any Canadians are really going to be taking a vacation in the next year, and if those few that can still afford vacations are looking for an all inclusive trip to Cuba.indieadventurer wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 1:26 pm Most Air Transat pilots are probably waiting to go back to work at Air Transat.
The same will apply for business travelers. Most people I know who were regularly flying for business are planning to continue with webcam meetings in the future.98 Corolla wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 4:11 pmI was afraid of that. Also many will be looking at buying fraction shares of corporate aircraft.FL320 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 4:49 pmThe same will apply for business travelers. You were afraid of what? Everyone in the industry is well aware of the potential and probable massive implications this will have on our livelihoods for years to come.98 Corolla wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 4:11 pmI was afraid of that. Try to keep an open mind. 703 operators with 2 aircraft in small towns are getting hundreds of resumes from 737 pilots. Costco may be the best any of us can hope for for the next little while. We may well be heading into the second great depression. The last one had 24% unemployment. We're halfway there.Jean-Luc Monette wrote: ↑Sun Mar 29, 2020 2:57 pmReal funny....
You do realize many of us have been there for well over 20 years and are also close to retirement but not quite ready to pull the plug?
Our #1 is a founding member (1987) who still has 5 years of flying ahead of him, and he’s getting a layoff notice like the rest of us, so I’ll tell him you said to go and apply at Costco...
