Probably, they are looking at various scenarios.
Hope for the best.

Re: Corona Virus
Actually, don't wear masks, they don't prevent the spread.

Common sense, isn't it?
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Corona Virus
Well, there you go. All the boneheads hammering me for "not trusting science" yet we get different directions from the so-called experts who can't even agree.photofly wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 10:35 amActually, don't wear masks, they don't prevent the spread.

I'll put my mask on anyways. Some stupid scientists can't figure out even if the wearer might catch something, that the wearer of the mask might cough suddenly(as probably happens billions of time per day around the world) and the mask catches the spit particles.
Yeah...trust the scientists.
Re: Corona Virus
And at last the fallacy in your argument reveals itself: experts disagree, therefore anyone who disagrees must be an expert.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.
Re: Corona Virus
Scientists respond to new information and are constantly challenging what they know. They learn, as opposed to pulling nuggets out of their ass and calling it knowledge. I’ll take what they say every time even if it ends up the same as what some dumpster diver said two weeks ago.

Re: Corona Virus
Well... back to topic. One certainly hopes economic activity will return soonest. 100b was injected by current administration and in 6 months time another bunch of billions and 6 months from that.... This is getting to be very serious money for a nation of 37m in order to keep things going, I shudder to think. Your business enterprise you worked hard to start and maintain and my pension after many years of the perils of aviation will have one thing in common - both will be worthless.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 9:05 amYup. The same common sense that is apparently so lacking in pilots, we need a checklist to tell us not to steeply bank a business jet from an unstable approach?
Your qualification that your sense is actually common sense -- is?
You can pull up CADORS?

Re: Corona Virus
Can we do something similar to what Taiwan has done !?
24 million people
less than 400 cases.
10 deaths.
2 million Chinese visitors to Taiwan annually.
They did something or several things right.

Re: Corona Virus
Should all we young-uns get the flu so that next year there is herd immunity? Then next year the strain changes and we all have to get THAT variant of the flu ,,,,,
Re: Corona Virus
We have reached peak idiocy, it seems. The tinfoil hat wearing, rebel news brigade has descended upon the thread. I fear meaningful discussion is at an end.
On a personal note, I am so sick of this shit. I wish Facebook and Twitter and YouTube never happened. This kind of opinionated deluge of intellectual garbage is the reason rational thinking and critical thought are so absent in our modern world. Worse still is that it spreads faster and more thoroughly than the Coronavirus itself: People don't develop immunity to it; they carry the infection for life; and it is absolutely mentally debilitating.

The worse part is that Facebook and Youtube try to show you articles and videos that match with your interests. It makes things worse. They'll hardly ever voluntarily show you something you don't agree with. So you have a group of online strangers sending the same kind of movies to each other, all assuming they are right, because they only see the hundreds of clips agreeing with them, not the thousands proving them wrong. It's sad.Trematode wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 12:49 pm On a personal note, I am so sick of this shit. I wish Facebook and Twitter and YouTube never happened. On the other hand, you can't just blame facebook etc. Even regular news is a joke. Especially south of the border. Any objectivity is hard to find.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Corona Virus
"Until this week, Dr. Theresa Tam offered no fewer than four reasons why asymptomatic Canadians shouldn’t wear masks when they left the house. First, the Public Health Agency of Canada head told us, wearing a mask to protect you or others from COVID-19 might deplete supplies needed by front-line nurses and doctors (putting to one side the fact that relatively few of us were looking to procure medical-grade N95 models). Secondly, wearing a mask could make everything worse because “the person (could) put their finger in their eye or touch their face under their mask.” Third, masks would give us a “false sense of security,” and thereby encourage people to stop social distancing. Fourth, Tam told us, “most people haven’t learned how to use masks.” The profile of the ordinary Canadian that emerges here is a person so dumb that one wonders how we manage to even button our shirts or zip our pants without watching instructional videos or calling a 1-800 number.Rockie wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 11:24 am Scientists respond to new information and are constantly challenging what they know. Fortunately, that’s all old news. On Monday, Tam proclaimed Canadians mask-worthy, instructing us that “wearing a non-medical mask is an additional measure that you can take to protect others around you.” She even gave us crafting tips on how to MacGyver our own units out of t-shirts and elastic bands.
This advice comes several weeks after many of us already knew that masks were beneficial. But still, it’s nice to see that Tam has caught up on her March reading.
In retrospect, the time to start questioning our federal government’s competency on COVID-19 health-and-safety leadership was late January, when Tam told a health committee that forcing self-isolation on incoming travellers from COVID-19-afflicted areas would risk “stigmatizing” members of those communities. Even if no one knew the full extent of the virus threat back then, her manner of justifying inaction symbolized a larger pattern: From the start, our public officials often seemed more concerned about political correctness than public contagion.
Thank goodness Rockie trusts the experts. Do you?

Its always the tolerant people who are the most intolerant.
And people who want meaningful discussion who use insults and try to shut down a discussion.
If something is false or not a fact, by all means, explain or back it up.

I guess a possible remedy is to watch or read from more than one source on a given topic.digits_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 12:54 pmThe worse part is that Facebook and Youtube try to show you articles and videos that match with your interests. Haha. I'm good on the food supply.
I watched my first Rebel news youtube video ever; so I must also a doomsday prepper !
The point I picked up from that video, politics aside; was what steps might actually help the entire country.
I think people who are too beholden to their views are blinded and probably missed the potentially economy and life saving information on the video.
Re: Corona Virus
There is talk about that now. Nor sure how serious it could be and what areas it could affect but it is one more thing to consider when it comes to my....solution.

Re: Corona Virus
News out of China is saying 10% of those recovered are now testing positive,,,,,,,not a good disease for trialling herd immunity !
Re: Corona Virus
Words cannot express how relieved I am that you have absolutely nothing to do with any official response to this crisis.
“My....solution”.
You really, really, really do believe your own Bullshit.
Re: Corona Virus
Who knows...it may have been forwarded to places of influence. We will see what the government recommends in the future for healthy younger people.Rockie wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 3:46 pm

Some years ago there was a guy, really good stick, could fly circles around most folks here. His communication methods may have been a bit rough around the edges but he really knew the airplanes inside and out. He got banned for life for being rough around the edges in communication styles.
The pelmet crap seems to have overrun the site, made it mostly useless. Why is this still allowed to continue. In the 20 years I have participated here, signal to noise ratio has always been poor, but now it's gone pretty much to zero. When are the mods going to send pelmet off to the same place that fella selling crappy chicken went...

What do you think guys. Should I be banned for bringing up the conversation that I did along with the the other subjects I have commented on. Take a look at my posts and decide.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Tue Apr 07, 2020 4:35 pm Some years ago there was a guy, really good stick, could fly circles around most folks here. Looks like no one supports you Golden eagle. Sorry bud...time for you to leave as you insult a variety of people and pilots here. And you were supposedly a chief pilot. We hear about those types.
