How to get an RNAV at an airport
Hey Guys,
Im wondering who you talk to in order to get an RNAV approach / IFR Departure procedures in place at an airport? Who has to come see the airport and assess it etc. It would be in Alberta.
Thx.

They have an airplane to do it, or you can use your own to save some money. There will be an initial price, and then an annual fee as well.

I've never heard of using your own airplane to certify an RNAV procedure. Do you have some more information or documentation as to how that works?porcsord wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 10:41 am http://www.jetpro.ca/

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

By our own airplane, I mean a King Air, not sure if that matters. And you'll have to talked to the company to get the details on how or why that is possible.

Couple years ago we looked at getting a new rnav approach into an airport in uncontrolled airspace, but About 25nm from a class d ifr airport, and it was going to be about 30k.

if you want lpv it's $ about 28000, takes about 2 years. from designing of approach to publishing approved approach in the cap 3. That is if there is no from objections from nav can or military as example. Then there is a fee of $4500 per year after the first 4 years to maintain the certification. due to the rather massive building encroaching within the airport. recommended 300 ft of runway setback at tofield you may have delay in approval

In my view this is the best External Design Unit company that provides instrument approach procedures to those who are outside of the defined Nav Canada core airports that want published procedures for their site. This company is qualified in all aspects of TP-308 and are PANSOPS( ICAO international design criteria) qualified as well, also knowledgeable on TP-312 Aerodrome Standards and Recommended Practices. I personally know the CEO and staff however not affiliated in any way.
