Well so much for this thread......
Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
My friends were just contacted by Air Transat informing them that their November flight to the UK has been cancelled. Seems a bit far off to be cancelling??

They are adjusting their schedules with today’s realities. I’m pretty sure the cancelled flight was one that had been planned before the Covid crisis.

Was it a flight to YUL? I was told those flights have been cancelled and will have to connect through YYZ from LGW to YUL.

Neo’s are going to be flying a lot! I guess good planes fly in hard times.

As long as the quarantine rules lift in Canada and those destinations we’ll pick up steam pretty quickly. If not, that schedule will get slashed.
Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
when do you guys think the 14day self quarantine rule will be removed?

Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
This is very bad news......
If each country does its own thing in its corner instead of using universal standards based on a common reference, its going to be chaos.
At the same time, the EU is allowing Canadians in, but not US citizens. The EU also stated

The order covering the US is separate and for now ends July 21.....If they arrive from a foreign country other than the U.S.

So reciprocity is a factor for the EU. They may not take kindly that they allow us in while we do not reciprocate......The EU said China is "subject to confirmation of reciprocity," meaning it must lift all restrictions on European citizens entering China before Chinese citizens will be allowed back into the EU.
Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
There is a glimmer of hope .. seems like they extended the program as a stopgap measure until new criteria can be agreed on. I would hope, expect this to change in the coming days, weeks.
Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
The EU putting Canada as a safe country for travel is a start. We just gotta get rid of the 14 day quarantine and then Transat should do alright. I know there is lots at play however this is a big part of it.

14 day quarantine extended until August 31. Nobody is going anywhere this summer.

Re: When is Air Transat likely to resume flights
Looks to me that there’s 2 dates, first is entry to travellers who are not Canadian citizens, and the second is quarantine for anyone arriving into Canada.
Extended to July 31 - travel ban that bars entry to all travellers who are not Canadian citizens, permanent residents or people entering from the U.S. for "essential" reasons
Extended to Aug 31 - the federal government is also extending strict quarantine rules requiring travellers to isolate for 14 days upon their arrival in Canada
Also, a separate order prohibits non-essential travel between Canada and the U.S. and remains in effect until July 21

It is possible Trudeau would let a hundred airlines fail if it meant saving one life. We might question it but many of his base would agree so we should not be surprised if this is his policy. Women and urban male vote count just as much as your vote.
