Are schools busy?

Post by Civic »

Just curious what the return level of past students and new student level at schools today? How many have hope of becoming a pro pilot?
Also if a good number of instructors lost their job.
Thanks

Sorry I asked, I’m one of those unemployed instructors. Never mind.

I don't have exact numbers but our schedule is nearly full. No instructors permanently laid off, although the school did shut down during the lockdown phase. A few past instructors who had moved on to 705 companies have returned to the fold at least temporarily. My gut feeling (for whatever that's worth) is nearly 100% student retention. Fleet hours are actually up 10% over this month last year but weather has a lot to do with that.

No we're not hiring.
That’s great to hear, thanks for sharing

Also at school in the GTA. We are very busy, full schedule, ground school classes have same, if not more students then before the shut down. We've just had several new instructors come online.

I’m an instructor in South Western Ontario and we are as busy as ever for August. A new (and rather large) student group in September will bring us near maximum operational capacity.
