Lesson Plans

Post by JetA Burner »

Does anyone have any templates (individual or whole) for the instructor rating?

I'm not sure what all is required of a candidate to have prepared. Pre-flight brief plans, air lesson plans, post flight, etc. A template for 1 lesson start to finish would be greatly appreciated.

All of this is covered by your Class 1 Instructor when you start your ground training for the rating so no need to fret. :)

I appreciate the comment, but the question still stands

This is more so for my own enjoyment and to better organize myself when teaching type familiarization. I'm not exactly seeking out an instructor rating anywhere in the near future.

TP975, Flight Instructor Guide, Part 1 has a lot of relevant information for you in Part 1.

Check out pages 37-41 in particular.

The FIG has a lot of templates. You can use that and then personalize as necessary. It's not a quickie. I guess it could be but my lesson plans with diagrams and other info came out at over 300 pages. A bit overkill? Perhaps. You can also Google briefing templates.

Good luck!

Any hint as to what kind of gig you have doing type familiarization yet you aren't an instructor? Sounds kind of cool and maybe worth looking into.

It's not illegal for a Commercial (or higher) pilot to provide (certain) instruction to a licensed pilot. Commercial pilots can also provide IFR training, VFR Over the Top, Multi-Engine, insurance checkouts, etc.

I imagine that's what's happening here. I've provided insurance checkouts to private pilots who don't have the experience on type that the insurance company is looking for. I'm not a flight instructor. On that note, I copied the Private Pilot checkride, save for a few modifications.

Are you suggesting that it is illegal for a Private Pilot to provide instruction to a licensed pilot? My last 2 checkouts were from Private Pilots. Do you have a CARs reference?

Thank you.

Also you need an instructor rating for a VFR OTT rating.
425.21
(8) A person who conducts flight training toward the issuance of a VFR Over-the-Top rating shall have a flight instructor rating for the category of aircraft used for the training.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship
