What sector believes it’s above the law? Non-essential travel hasn’t been against the law it’s just requested you avoid it not must avoidGhostRider6 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 12, 2021 10:52 pm So.. the sector now believes it’s above the law? I haven’t seen family including my son during this time due to COVID. I don’t go out... groceries only.

The airlines should have been prepared to operate an essential service basis for essential reasons...period.. someone or something will take it’s place.
Again, to Quote Pierre Pollivere “ if the business needs a government bailout.. its a loser.”
It’s sad.. no doubt about that.. but this is the way life is ..

There are some bitter folks on here that didn't make it to the airlines.
Let me just say there is no life like it and can't wait to be globetrotting again...

Pretty thin on details. Not surprising though with the US moving to required pre-arrival COVID testing starting Jan 26.dhc# wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 8:34 am More cuts just announced by AC

Indeed. I'm curious to know how the 200 layoffs will be absorbed at Express - Sky in particular seems very exposed if cross-border travel starts to diminish further. Wishing everyone the best of luck in these difficult and uncertain times.Freeport_Flyer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:10 amPretty thin on details. Proof of vaccination right around the corner. Most Canadians won’t be able to travel outside Canada this summer because we are slow on the vaccination process. In fact it is probable that some Provinces may implement bubbles where only vaccinated outsiders can enter.Freeport_Flyer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 10:10 amPretty thin on details. The airlines are realizing it will be summer 2022 before things get normal both internationally and domestically.
Clearly there will be no aid to the industry. They can’t just bleed for another year. They have to act.
Re: Service Suspension Notice
I can hold the fact that there’s a virus that is taxing the healthcare system and travel needs to be restricted - fair enough.
With the slow vaccination rate I agree on 2022. I also don’t think the industry has bottomed yet. ( sadly)
I can see travel restrictions still existing after vaccinations are complete.
So much more could have been done: loans, freezing taxes/ fees, utilizing the sector for vaccine distribution..
AC/ WJ cannot subsidize Canadian’s travel..especially in the absence of sector specific support. One has to wonder, why, with the landmass/ population spread Canada has .. why Canada is a global leader in sector specific inaction.
CEWS is useless if the company ceases to exist. CEWS cannot replace the benefits, incomes, retirement saving ,travel benefits... things employees will use and contribute to the economy as a result.
I don’t know how JT thinks he’ll pay off that trillion without jobs and a robust aviation sector.
Best of luck all..

Ha! Being able to freely travel. So long as you have proof of vaccination. If you don’t have proof of vaccination you may not be able to leave your province depending on where you live.

This looks like the “new normal” apparently...
Give it a scan.. it’s certainly interesting.

That’s the point. There is no return to 2019.McKinley wrote: ↑Wed Jan 13, 2021 5:14 pm This looks like the “new normal” apparently...

For example, in 2019 AC was competing against TS. In 2022, TS will be part of AC.
In 2019, business class travel represented 20% of revenue but 80% of profit. What will business travel demand look like in 2022?
The question is how close will we ever get to 2019. For many of us, our carriers will be lucky to get back to 80%.

Did you give it a scroll ?
This isn’t a conspiracy.. it’s out in the open! It’s a WEF agenda.
These guys fly into a resort town yearly in an armada of private jets to discuss how the rest of us serfs are going to live.
I’m all for the survival of the planet .. but let’s all get in on making the sacrifices.
There’s literally propaganda in fine print touting how great “ lockdown staycations are.”
I fear for society as a whole...

More route cuts announced:

As part of a 25 per cent reduction in service for the first quarter of 2021, affecting another 200 employees at Air Canada's Express carriers, the company said Wednesday, that it will be cutting flights from Ottawa to Calgary and Vancouver, starting January 23.

From the website in fine print:
“ lockdown was great wasn’t it? No commute, leisurely danders around to the corner shop instead of jumping into the car for every journey.......
Instead of going back to the same old, let’s continue our lockdown positive behaviors.. fill in the above and share it in car windows as a reminder.”

I certainly hope not...
There’s a significant number of global elites behind this movement... ( Klaus Schwab/ the royal family)
Our PM is all for this idea .. that has not been tested.. I do think JT is trying this out to feed his narcissistic legacy. I fear our careers are disposable..

Re: Service Suspension Notice
A bit of a paradox. The lockdown kept people at home sure, but it is also wiping out massive numbers of local "Mom and Pop" type businesses in local communities that people could walk to. There are few "corner shops" left. Now we need a car to make the trip to the big box stores.McKinley wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 8:01 am https://greatreset.com/?fbclid=IwAR2_hL ... EOn63Cilok

Praise be to Al Gore.
May Greta and Suzuki be upon you.
Oh yeah, and Trudeau.
I wonder what tropical island the biz jets are flying into this year.
Probably staying in $300/night suites also. (sarcasm)
