Called back to fly where? The UK just imposed lockdown again, as one example. We are already paying people to do nothing, which is all we can do, as far as I can see. Having them "back at work" doesn't solve the problem of LACK OF PAYING CUSTOMERS and LACK OF DESTINATIONS.

How many jobs are indirectly affected by 32,000 people unemployed and potentially filling bankruptcy the longer this drags on?ayseven wrote: ↑Mon Dec 21, 2020 12:52 pm Called back to fly where? Did you bother to read? The original CARES act 25b came with strings, those were no furlough and pay stayed the same as 2019 income or better, our CEWS was a slightly enhanced EI, that had many participants take a drastic pay cut..... anyhow too tired of this whole thing, taking a break! Good day

Of note, they are giving 15 Billion to bring back 32,000 employees, we have about the same amount on furlough here, clearly they see the economic benefits of strong airlines.

How will the package affect the aviation industry?
If the stimulus bill passes through Congress and the Senate without a hitch, airlines are set to receive around $15bn in total. As part of the conditions, carriers will be required to call back over 32,000 workers who were furloughed over the fall period
Airlines aren’t part of the great Trudopian “ reset.” In all seriousness, the state of our industry couldn’t be a more sad state of affairs. It’s awful to see..
Canada = one of the only or the only country in the G7 to not support its airline sector.
Re: Potential Airline Bailout
How come they didn't already call back all their pilots in the states?
As far as I know there's no quarantine over there...

Re: Potential Airline Bailout
US Airlines will be healthier and in a better position to capture the inevitable surge of air traffic. They will gain market share over their Canadian counterparts thanks in most part to the public’s channelized attention of refunds and subsequent government political will.
Canadians will be wondering why airfares have surged and for the east coasters why their airports look like Pompei.

Article from Flight Global today...
https://www.flightglobal.com/strategy/c ... 49.article
”The entire Canadian aviation system is going to financially crater – and soon – unless there is some approach beyond demanding that people hide in the house,” says Mike Boyd, president of airline consultancy Boyd Group International. ”Killing the economy as an unintended part of the programme is well underway, and airports and airlines in Canada are in the crosshairs.”

Well, I thought it defied logic but maybe there’s a reason behind it..

Re: Potential Airline Bailout
What's the reasoning behind ministers or government officials being allowed to travel on government private jets for private travel? Is that part of their compensation package?
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Sent from Trudeau to all his ministers today. This is the link for the letter sent to Minister Alghabra who is the new Minister of Finance. Seems like they are still making refunds their first priority along with regional connectivity. Our airlines are losing market share the international carriers on international routes. What are your thoughts?

Lots of green rhetoric ...
“Build back better” which a catchphrase from the WEF.
Not a lot of talk about how he plans to address the regional connectivity. He does not get regional-national- international link and how it’s all connected.
What’s really interesting is that he does not even nod at the fact that our industry is a government cash cow... and the wages and social benefits from our sector’s employees.

AC was leading in the International market and growing market share through their North American hubs. COVID has severely damaged their plans and TRUDUMB is pouring gas on the fire. Junior and the Liberals have always governed via the polls and not by what is good (or logical) for the country.
People love free money. Refund policy is clear. The Libs care not for industry. Why earn it when you can borrow it.
What more do you need?

Does everyone realize that the ONLY way back to normalcy is by vaccines! Unfortunately Trudeau was trying for 5 months (Dec-Apr) to negotiate a deal with China to develop a vaccine here in Montreal, which never happened! Meanwhile, the rest of the world was busy ordering approved vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna...now, we are at the end of the line, waiting to get deliveries of vaccines because Trudeau didn't order the vaccines soon enough, never mind not enough...and now Provinces are running extremely low on vaccines! Good luck everyone, at this rate we'll all be vaccinated by 2032!

Yup .. well aware. The general public doesn’t really care .. they’re all sitting at home collecting cheque’s, getting high and slamming bags of Cheetos.
Welcome to the new normal. Shit .. I’m out of cheetos!

Watching Trudeau speak about anything is so painful. Behind the feigned disappointment, he almost seems giddy at the idea of Keystone cancellation.
But he has a goatee, and some of it is grey so he must know what he's doing..
