Wasaya "apprentice pilot" interview
Has anyone actually applied for that wasaya "apprentice pilot position' and gotten a interview? if so what kind of questions they ask? because its basically a ramp position so i dont imagine they asking anything beyond the basic HR questions

Re: Wasaya "apprentice pilot" interview
I’d be prepared to answer a few technical questions if I was in your shoes (assuming you’re asking because you have an interview), or the shoes of someone interviewing for any ground to flight job. I believe those that I know that interviewed there in the past had to answer some light technical questions. Think of it this way, yeah it’s a ramp job but you’re going to likely fly for them one day, why would they hire someone with poor knowledge that they didn’t uncover by asking tech questions when another candidate may have identical ramp skills but superior technical knowledge that could be revealed in the interview process?
Oh and be prepared to really WORK, it’s not going to be easy at any of these ground to flight jobs, and now it’s going to be a hell of a long time before getting into right seat. The grind will be worth it once ya work your way into that seat though!

For the apprentice pilot job it's all about attitude and how they react to your work ethic. I'm not sure where you are from but Pickle Lake is not what you could even imagine unless you are from another isolated town at the end of the road north of 50N. Dealing with the frustration of waiting for that flying position in an isolated place. Your love life will be difficult and less complicated being "foot loose". If you are attached be prepared for short and few visits.
It's staff house life and shift work if there is a fuel haul going on. It's a difficult way to get that seat and you always run the possibility of a parachute individual taking that seat.
Having said that if you are willing to take on that size 3 hat and an 18 inch neck for a unknown number of months you will get that job. It might turn out when you look back to be the most fun you had in your career.
You should have either a bell or telus mobile account but the extended rogers roaming plan will work there as well. It's been a cpl years for me but TBaytel works on the reserves but not in Pickle. If you are lucky enough to get placed in Red or Sioux you will have a better social life. Thunder Bay is very unlikely.
There is still some "80's" approach to management styles so the will to work and do that little extra sometimes goes a long way in getting your foot in the door. The flying knowledge you have now will pass anything they ask. They are looking at how your answer and trying to figure out if you will adapt to, by some standards, a very crappy work environment for little pay and long hours.
They have seen enough candidates over the years to detect bullshit.
cheers and good luck it's tough times and the road is rocky but wasya will will launch you on your way if you fit in.
