Bad Captains? Who the fu..
So. If you have not been an F/O you are some kind of an A-hole who will soon die, take many people with you and blame someone else while it happens...right(Dr. Evil accent). Those comments made earlier are amateur bull-shit remarks that should be kept to ones self lest he be found out. I am bye no means an expert but with a five figure log book, 7 former companies(no comments about being fired as all have welcomed me back) and more than a few friends that have never been F/0s I can tell you that it isn't the way in which you get there that makes you a dick, it is how you act when you arrive. If any of you can point out how the guys at WestJet,for example, made it without ever being an F/O at the smaller companies...well you can't. I have just as good a chance of the guy sitting to the right bad mouthing me as the upgraded F/O he will fly with tomorrow. Shhhhh.

Whooaahhh big fella! So I am to understand you are on your 14th tour of duty, or the 7 companies have issued statements saying thanks for your time, when can we expect you back?
When I started to answer your post, I thought I actually understood what you were talking about. I've read it again and again, and have come up with this conclusion, please post a correction if I have erred;
You are an a-hole, you are dying of something, you give a poor hummer, but alot of your friends give good ones?
Help us out Scared stiff, we want to feel your pain too.

I may have made the post he was referring to. I said something to the effect that all captains should have to spend a year or two in the right seat of something to get to the left, but I by no means said you aren't worth shit if you happen to go direct captain. Not for that reason alone anyway. Plenty of ex F)'s are dicks too.

As for single pilot guys as Captains or old F/O's as Captains....
From my experience personality is the key not previous experience. It is the attitude the person has toward CRM and team work to achieve the goal (making it home each day to drink more beer)
I have flown with guys who used to be FO's on the same plane and they were not the best captains and then I have flown with guys with 3000 hours single pilot time. If the guy in the left seat wants to get the job done and be proffesional then he will usually be most easy to fly with. I dunno; I hate getting into these petty discussions. As with Bandaid I agree, this guy is looking to hook people on the topic
Cheers to all,
AF

I am obligated to respond...I guess. I was trying to be vague enough to arouse a response from those who posted the initial comments. And it did. And I am satisfied with the response. It is a "petty" subject(Captains who have never been F/O vs F/O who are now captains).Unles the guy tells you, most of you would have no clue(myself included). Lets not here about this again. Chian joi let maii yahai nouy...subtitle...zip it.
