Telemedicine for medical renewal

Post by rotorspeed »

If I'm reading correctly on TC website, you can do medical renewal through telemedicine. How does that work, bp, vision all that. If doc is not listed as telemed can you ask them?

Really. My doc isn't listed on telemed on TC. I wonder if they can still do it?

Rumour has it, or was it in one of COPAs emails, that "the list" is of the CAMEs who will do a telemedicine renewal for anyone - at the best of times a certain percentage of doctors seem rather unwilling to do renewals for "new patients". Even though your particular CAME may not be listed, it's still worth giving the office a call and seeing if they will do your renewal as an existing patient.

Despite what the TC website says, your doctor may not do telemedicine renewals. My doctor is listed as available for telemedecine renewals, but when I called they said "oh, we're not doing that."

Just because TC says it’s ok, you’ll want to think twice before using this service. Not having the stamp in your book has proved troublesome outside of Canada, and it’s not like you can even go to your account on the TC website to prove your medical is done, since they are usually a year to 18 months behind on there.

Probably best for private pilots only then... Who shouldn't be travelling outside of Canada anyway right now.

The CAME sends you a medically fit letter that you have to print off, and carry with your aviation booklet.

Colleagues of mine have been operating outside of Canada with no issue that I've heard of.

My doc is doing mine mid June. I asked reception about not having the piss test, bp, vision, hearing, ECG for over two years now...but they are fine with it, TC is fine with it. It's the way it is. Just have to make sure your doc does them. Mine can e-mail me a copy of my letter for my booklet while I wait for the "official" one in the mail.
