Amphibians are characteristically extra vulnerable to the flight not going as planned. The insurance companies know this, and choose very carefully each pilot they insure. I wold want to be very well covered for insurance and [what is probably a high] deductible before I took responsibility for an amphibian. And kind of landing gear problem, and everyone is looking at the person who just landed it - and it'll be expensive....
I am very cautious whose plane I borrow. I only borrow what I can afford to repair for the deductible and uninsured portion - 'cause I could have to....

For those who didn't notice, this is likely the reason for the offer.....

Another reason many here probably just skipped past that add, they dont want to end up on the other side of another 'going to court' thread. It would be my first thought seeing the add. My second thought would be about possible issues in clarifying thing, apparently the poster has a hearing problem too....

Though it's not my thing, I have no problem with an owner who would like to see their plane flown, when for reasons of their own, cannot fly it themselves. Depending upon the owner's preferences, it's great that airplanes do not sit, unless they are properly preserved. Insurance and PIC responsibilities need to be agreed, but if an owner and qualified pilot come to informed agreement, that's totally fair...

The medical doctor in Toronto assumed I had a hearing problem, I went for a hearing test and passed with flying colors, Why he assumed I had a hearing problem in the first place is anybody's guess, Hearing test documentation has been submitted to him and now I'm waiting for him to approve my medical, I also had a medical done on the 31 of May and have no issues, I received an email from TC medical division advising me that they received my medical information,

Let's hope not.
Good judgment comes from experience. Experience often comes from bad judgment.
Re: Only two replied
It took a month but TC finally approved my medical, my audiogram test which showed only minimal hearing loss but The TC medical doctor decided to put the following on my medical, use of headphones must be used, I only fly with noise cancelling lightspeed headphones anyway. So nothing changes. I'm still waiting to hear from the Aviation Tribunal in Ottawa who never responded to my request for a hearing in regards to my pilot licence being suspended for not getting a Audiogram test when requested by the TC medical doctor.

What was your age at the time you were asked to get the audiogram? Did you get one at age 55, assuming you're over 55?

I did float flying for years in Yellowknife as a self-employed charter pilot. Float flying makes it all worth it.

I also worked in that area on fire patrols. The first day on the job I spotted a fire,

Would be nice to know the type.
And to clarify, is it an offer where one can fly alone or always with the owner.
