Hello all, don’t know who to ask.. but I know some real gurus on here.

Wondering why ENG START selector has to be set to CONT during a LE slat asymmetry?

Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers

If you are at an airline, I'd suggest asking your standards pilots or maintenance.

neither of the systems are connected to each other in any way, so I am assuming it is to reduce the risk of making the situation even worse by losing an engine.
there is nothing mentioned in the MM or any of the Maint training manuals about it.

When the ENG start selector flips to AUTO, the ignitor's fire with LE slats extended or engine anti-ice on.

I'm no Boeing guru, but my best guess is going to CONT covers the above with the LE slat asymmetry issue.
