Mackay is still apparently 500k in the hole from the last run he made. And your debts from running need to be paid before you can run again. If you choose the black face sociopath over this man, there's something wrong with you.
Of course, he's gotta win the leadership first. Him or Lewis.
Mr. O'Toole was trying too hard to cater to everyone (not that its was a bad thing) and somewhere along the way forgot what his role was. A politician, especially a (potential) Prime Minister needs to represent all Canadians, but given the current environment, he was too weak or not willing to be more aggressive in his policies and standing up against ridiculous mandates. I personally agree with the Conservative Party's choice to remove him from leadership.
What we need is a strong, intelligent and frankly someone with a bit of backbone to push back against the absurd policies of the ultra-left Liberals and NDP. We need to contain and attempt to fix the out of control economy that is hurting almost every Canadian, be it a trucker from Red Deer AB, a teacher from Sydney NS, or a fisherman from Nunavut.
He'll have my vote!
If you're not already, sign up for Federal membership so you can vote him in as leader. I suspect we'll see Lewis there, along with Mackay. We can not afford Mackay. It will be a repeat of the last two elections.

Re: I really like Pierre Poilievre. I think he's the most logical choice for the leadership of the Conservative Party.

Some good stuff and ??????
Poilievre was adopted at birth by schoolteachers of Franco-Saskatchewanais heritage.
His biological maternal grandfather, whom Poilievre first met as an adult, was Irish Canadian.
He studied international relations at the University of Calgary, following a period of study in commerce at the same institution.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Calgary.
At the age of 16, Poilievre sold Reform Party memberships for Jason Kenney.
Poilievre also worked as a full-time assistant for former Canadian Alliance leader and Opposition leader Stockwell Day.
In 1999, writing as Pierre Marcel Poilievre, he contributed an essay, "Building Canada Through Freedom" to the book @Stake—"As Prime Minister, I Would...", a collection of essays from Magna International's "As Prime Minister" awards program.
In his essay he argued, among other things, for a two-term limit for all members of Parliament.
He did not win the competition. At the time, he was editorially described as being in the second year of a commerce program at the University of Calgary. His self-description was as "a political junkie with a passion for public debating and a special interest in international relations".
In 2004, Poilievre stood as Conservative candidate in the riding of Nepean—Carleton. He defeated Liberal Cabinet minister David Pratt by 3,736 votes.
In 2006, Poilievre was re-elected with 55% of the vote, beating Liberal candidate Michael Gaffney by 19,401 votes.
He has been re-elected in 2008 and 2011 with similar majorities.
He was appointed as parliamentary secretary to various ministers including the president of the Treasury Board and the prime minister.
Whistleblower Protection Laws
As parliamentary secretary to the Treasury Board president, Poilievre took credit for redrafting Canada's whistleblower protection laws, and worked with Treasury Board President John Baird to pass the Federal Accountability Act through the House of Commons.
The Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act was enacted to provide a process for public sector employees when disclosing abuses and wrongdoings within the federal government and protection of these employees from reprisals.
The Federal Accountability Act received Royal Assent on December 12, 2006.
At the last poll – Canadas’ Whistleblowing Laws Rate right at the bottom worldwide – A disgrace in my opinion. All paper and no teeth!

OTTAWA — Canada is at the bottom of an international ranking of countries with whistleblower protection, lagging behind Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Botswana.
A report released Tuesday by the U.S.-based Government Accountability Project and the U.K.-based International Bar Association surveyed whistleblowing frameworks in 37 countries with such laws to determine whether they are actually working.
What they found is that they are not.
“Too often the rights that look impressive on paper are only a mirage of protection in practice,” the study’s six-lead authors said.
“Either they do not make a difference, or in some cases, make whistleblowing more dangerous.”
The picture is especially bleak in Canada, which together with Lebanon and Norway, tied for the world’s weakest whistleblower protection laws.
Canada’s Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act and its track record met only one of 20 criteria.
The United States, Australia and the European Union’s Whistleblower Protection Directive tied for having the best record, with 16 out of 20 criteria fulfilled.
Other top countries included Serbia and Ireland, with 15 out of 20 each, and Namibia, with 14.
Residential Schools Compensation
On June 11, 2008, Prime Minister Stephen Harper released a public apology on behalf of the Canadian government for the residential schools and provided $4 billion worth of funding for residential school survivors.
Earlier that day, Poilievre made remarks to CFRA News Talk Radio regarding the compensation and the residential school survivors, for which he would later apologize.
Poilievre stated that he didn't think Canada was "getting value for all this money", instead "we need to engender the values of hard work and independence and self-reliance."
Poilievre apologized in Parliament the next day, saying, "Mr. Speaker, I rise today to offer a full apology to aboriginal people, to the House and to all Canadians.
Yesterday, on a day when the House and all Canadians were celebrating a new beginning, I made remarks that were hurtful and wrong. I accept responsibility for them, and I apologize."
Carbon Tax
Poilievre is opposed to a national carbon tax.
Tar Baby Reference
In May 2009 Poilievre was accused of having insensitively used the term "tar baby" in the House of Commons in reference to a policy of carbon taxation from which Poilievre suggested that Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff would try to distance himself.
Poilievre repeated the term later in the same question period.
A number of opposition MPs demanded Poilievre make amends for the use of the term.
Poilievre argued that he did not know that the term had racist undertones and was using the term in the sense of its common definition as a sticky and hard to handle issue.
Over the previous years, the term itself had been used by a number of prominent Canadian public figures to indicate a sticky situation.
2010 Police Investigation
In 2010, a police probe was triggered after Poilievre drove through a Parliament Hill screening gate without waiting for the RCMP to permit his entry and open the gate.
Instead, Poilievre pressed the entrance button himself and drove his vehicle through.
After the incident was reported on in the media, Poilievre apologized.
National Sovereignty
Poilievre criticized the Public Service Alliance of Canada when it was revealed that the regional sectors of that union endorsed the sovereigntist Parti Québécois in the 2012 Quebec provincial election.
Poilievre remarked,
“I accept the results of the election,” said Poilievre. “But I can’t accept a union representing public servants working for the government of Canada which forcefully takes money out of the pockets of Canada’s public servants to support parties that want to break up the country. How can it be in the interests of public servants to support the breakup of Canada?”
Poilievre has also supported Conservative MP Russ Hiebert's private members bill C-377, An Act to Amend the Income Tax Act (labour organizations).
The legislation advocates for an increased schedule and scope of disclosure for every Canadian labour union.
Fair Elections Act
Poilievre introduced Bill C-23, known as the Fair Elections Act, into the House of Commons on February 4, 2014.
The bill expanded the types of ID which were accepted in order to vote, and eliminated the vouching system, whereby a voter can vote without an ID and have an acquaintance 'vouch' for them.
The bill was opposed by former-chief electoral officer Jean-Pierre Kingsley, former-auditor general Sheila Fraser, and dozens of Canadian and international political experts — Poilievre stepped up his attacks on Marc Mayrand, the chief electoral officer of Elections Canada at the time, by accusing him of wanting "more power, a bigger budget and less accountability."
In the same appearance before the Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, Poilievre went on to accuse Mayrand of "fighting to retain this power, making some incredible claims and inventing some novel legal principles to do it."
The bill was passed and has received royal assent.
2014 Ottawa Shootings
On October 22, 2014, Poilievre was present at Parliament Hill during the attack on the House of Commons by a terrorist. He, along with the prime minister and many other MPs, barricaded themselves in the Conservative caucus meeting room.
He was one of a number of MPs who broke down flag poles and fashioned them into spears to ward off the assailant should he force his way inside.
Later, when he and fellow Conservative ministers and MPs met at the Lester B. Pearson Building, Poilievre brought along his spear as a memento.
Canada Elections Act Violation
In July 2015, while acting in his capacity as a Cabinet minister, Poilievre announced an expansion of a child care benefit program.
During the announcement, he wore a Conservative Party of Canada shirt, stated that the payments were from "our Conservative government," and claimed that "if the Liberals and NDP were to take office they would take the benefits away and raise taxes."
Later in 2017, the elections commissioner determined that the occasion was akin to a Conservative party campaign event, rather than a Government of Canada announcement.
As the government spent approximately $4,800 related to the event, it was essentially "a de facto non-monetary contribution" to the Conservative party.
The commissioner ruled that this was a campaign finance violation, as Poilievre had "knowingly circumvent[ed] the prohibition on contributions to a registered party by ineligible contributors." Poilievre was ordered to post a link to the ruling on his social media.
Political Positions
Economy
Poilievre argues that large budget deficits, printing money, very low interest rates, and the carbon tax are the main reasons for the current inflation crisis.
Social Issues
Poilievre stated that if elected, his government would not seek to reopen the abortion debate.
Poilievre voted against the legalization of same-sex marriage in 2005, like most Conservative MPs, though he later reversed his previous position and in 2020, called gay marriage a 'success'.
When former Conservative Party advisor Richard Décarie stated he believed being gay was a choice, Poilievre stated on Twitter, "Being gay is not a choice. Being ignorant is."
Poilievre voted in favour of banning conversion therapy in a free vote.
The CBC
Poilievre supports defunding the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).[52]
COVID-19
During the spring and summer of 2020, Poilievre was critical of what he perceived as the Trudeau government's misplaced trust in the Communist Party of China, who cancelled the CanSino vaccine contract with Canada.
Poilievre insisted that Canada should create its own vaccines supply, and make purchase agreements with more trustworthy governments.
Poilievre announced his support of those in the Freedom Convoy 2022.
On February 5, 2022, Poilievre announced he will run in the next leadership election of the Conservative Party with a desire to be Prime Minister.
What Is Pierre Poilievre Net Worth?
It is estimated that Pierre Poilievre has a net worth of $9 million.
He has made this money from the various positions he has held in politics.
Apart from being a member of parliament he also has help the finance position in the conservative political party.
He is involved in doing charity work to help different groups of people and people in need such as fire accident victims.
In 2005, he co-hosted a charity event with Ottawa police chief to help raise money that will help the Ottawa community.
Due to his communication skills, Poilievre has travelled the world.
He has been send as a representative to different countries.
In 2009, he was send to Geneva in Switzerland as representative in a Conference Against Racism, Discrimination and Persecution.
He also been to Poland where he toured the Nazi concentration camps.
Poilievre was appointed to cabinet by the prime minister in 2013 as a Minister of state for democratic reform after a reshuffle and this increased his net worth because he was able to earn better compared to when he has a member of parliament.
He has been a member of parliament for Carlton until 2019 and he still continuous to give his contribution in politics and different affairs in the human rights sphere.
Draw your own conclusions as to whether you want another “ELITE” as a Prime Minister.
It is your vote – use it wisely my friend.

Re: Truckers convoy
This is really funny. From the Police services board meeting.
Terrorists with bouncy castles. Thats a first.
These people in power….need help. Seriously.
Humility would go a long way now.
Coun. Diane Deans, who chairs the board, did not mince words about how she perceives the demonstrations that have taken over the core of the city.
"This group is emboldened by the lack of enforcement by every level of government," said Deans, at one point referring to them as "terrorists."
"They are terrorizing our residents, torturing them with incessant honking, threatening them and preventing them from leading their lives. People cannot go to work or open their businesses. They cannot sleep, walk, shop, go to medical appointments or enjoy their neighbourhood," she said.
"This group is a threat to our democracy. What we're seeing is bigger than just a city of Ottawa problem. This is a nationwide insurrection. This is madness."

Ah yes, the war of public perception. It's like a poker game. The delusional OPS Chief and city counsellors call the Truckers terrorists, and the Truckers counter with bouncy castles. I love it.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 6:00 am This is really funny. From the Police services board meeting.

Truckers should've raised the stakes with beavertail kiosks and drop-in canoe repair classes. Canadianna the sh*t out of 'em.

Re: Truckers convoy
To quote AOC, the darling of the fringe left: "The whole point of protesting is to make people uncomfortable."
The leftwing residents of Ottawa need to realize that the city is the Capital of an entire nation. It's the right of every Canadian citizen to enter the city, and protest peacefully. Not only that, but the city is financed largely with taxpayer money from across the country.
The citizens of Ottawa have the choice to live elsewhere if they're having emotional issues with peaceful protest. To quote the oft used pro-mandate people, "there are consequences to your choices."
To the Ottawa residents that have embraced the movement, and have hosted the Truckers with open minds and warm hearts, Thank you! You exemplify what it is to be Canadian.

Haha
Dear Diane.
Maybe you are unaccustomed with this emotion. What you are experiencing is rejection. You‘ve been stuck in your liberal bubble not realizing that most of the country doesn’t agree with your misguided ideology. Try practicing some politics and listen. Stop importing American Leftist ideology and try learning a bit about your own country. This is the problem with the leftist and their sycophants in the media party.

Re: Truckers convoy
I have some sympathy for the downtown residents. I really do, they are caught in the middle.
A humble olive branch, inviting the Convoy leaders to talk would go a long long way from Trudeau and co. That’s what I’d do.
Instead, The mayor has taken Trudeau’s attitude and keeps upping the ante, with these provocative and inflammatory statements. Over his skis, threatening to call in the Military against a large group of women and kids. This might have ended already, but calling people terrorists doesn’t move people to cooperate.
They are all taking a hardline attitude, and against an organized, determined opponent well supported by millions of Canadians.
Big mistake. Cut your losses……make peace……….divert, you know………
Pride goeth before a fall….always……….

Haha
This is the problem with the leftist and their sycophants in the media party.![]()
You don't see all the American flags waving? Guaranteed they're not being waved by leftists.

Re: Truckers convoy
Imagine this: Pierre Poilievre is Prime Minister.
A leftist protest, sponsored heavily by foreign money is trying to remove him from power. Even a prominent leftist billionaire is throwing his support behind them.
I bet many of you would suddenly be big supporters of democratically elected governments and the rule of law.
Many of you would have serious concerns over foreign interference, and its effect on our society.

Re: Truckers convoy
As far as I am concerned - and just my opinion that follows:
The trucker convoy is responsible for the noise and disruption until Wednesday morning when Trudeau was finished with his Covid 19 quarantine.
From that point on our Prime Minister is responsible for everything that has taken place after Wednesday Feb.2, 2022.
ALL OF IT
The disaster of Ottawa and the Ottawa Police costs.
This includes all of the provincial protests that are in solidarity with the original Freedom from Mandates.
This includes the terrorist attack on the 4 people in Winnipeg. No matter how they try to spin this, the charges should be ATTEMPTED MURDER.
This includes the shutdown for their own personal gain of the GOFUNDME.
This includes the collusion between the government subsidized news media to prevent the reality of a fair and accurate representation that is NOT being presented to the Canadian Public.
Our elected Prime Minister has vilified and demonized the "Fringe Group with UN-Acceptable views" and the continuing outpouring of hateful and derogatory and most importantly - the calculated degree of inflammatory commentary from the elected lackeys of this federal and provincial governments, that are corrupt to the core.
The Prime ministers comments are hate speech against the small minority that dared to come talk to him. How dare a bunch of big stinky, noisy, blue collar workers come to my town and ask MR super socks - aka the Coward of the Cottage - to meet with them.
Heads need to roll (Politically not Physically) on every single member of the House of Commons and the Senate for allowing this to happen. This non action by our own elected government is dereliction of duty - the obligation to protect the Constitution and the Charter of Rights and not their own self interests or their elected party interests. They all need to stand up and be counted - members of our elected government are not worthy of staying there if they don't all act to protect the fundamental rights of ALL CANADIANS. If they don't act they should all resign.
To the citizens of Ottawa - I am sorry for your hearing loss, your loss of immediate revenue for the last couple of weeks. I admire your tolerance and realize this impacts your livelihood and to a degree your personal freedoms. You live in a war zone - it might be time to move somewhere else and vote with your feet. Leave the hill as "No Mans Land" because I think this is just the beginning. As well before you think about this as being unfair please consider the 200,000 jobs lost in January. Do you think all of these worthless folks are having a holiday?? Please keep it in perspective!!
Please remember "United we stand, Divided we fall"

Re: Truckers convoy
(OK, ALMOST) —-MARTIAL LAW HAS BEEN DECLARED IN OTTAWA.
Anyone bringing any sort of Aid and Comfort to the protestors—Food, Fuel, etc…may be arrested.

The City of Ottawa declared a state of emergency Sunday afternoon in response to ongoing protests in the downtown core, soon after police announced they would boost enforcement and crack down on the demonstrators' supply of fuel.
In a statement, the city said the declaration "reflects the serious danger and threat to the safety and security of residents posed by the ongoing demonstrations and highlights the need for support from other jurisdictions and levels of government."
Ottawa's police force says it will now prevent people from supplying the protesters in the downtown with gas, food and other "material supports."
The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) announced the new tactic in a tweet Sunday afternoon, as the protest against COVID-19 public health measures in the city's parliamentary precinct — a protest several political leaders have called an occupation — continues for a second weekend.
Anyone who brings in those supplies could be arrested, OPS said. Police did not respond to a request for comment, citing officer safety.
——- “Aid and Comfort” — to the enemy of the state — now can result in incarceration.
Fun and games, until its you…..

This is genius, give it a couple days and the hot tubs and saunas will be to cold to use and the bouncy castles will all deflate.
Re: Truckers convoy
Settle down Rookie, no one has declared martial law - nor can a Municipal government declare it to begin with.
Originally there was the War Measures Act, which technically stops short of full martial law... which was replaced by the Federal Emergencies Act.
The Emergencies Act has never, I repeat, NEVER been used. There was vague talk of using it as a method for exercising greater control over the pandemic response early on in 2020, but there was no support from Provincial/Territorial Premiers when the idea was floated. The Emergencies Act also requires Parliamentary assent after Cabinet approval - it's not a unilateral action.
In conclusion, there's no martial law in Ottawa, nor will there be unless the Federal Emergencies Act is used - and it hasn't, nor will it be. So, you're either lying to provoke an angry outburst and a response or you're seriously misinformed. Either way, you need to retract your comments.
Re: Truckers convoy
I've voted Liberal since I turned 18. I am fully vax'd (as most are on here), support vaccination, and 100% support the protest. The mandates must end. Omicron has changed the game and the restrictions we had to keep Delta under control no longer make sense. As long as this government continues to interfere with Canadian's rights to earn a living, move freely among the country etc. I will support all efforts of these protesters.Bingo Fuel wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 3:03 pmShow me someone who supports the Freedom Convoy holding a sign or flag supporting the Liberals, NDP, Greens or Biden.FOD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 2:27 pm Why do we need to imagine this? What gives the OPS the right to claim they can arrest someone for doing so?
This action, is actually highlighting WHY this protest is happening and must continue.

I don’t know what to call it, when a Government ignores its own rule of law….to impose its own laws, and arrest people at will.
This is what other, not so nice countries do. Embarrass the government, and you disappear.
I’ve visited a lot of interesting countries. We don’t want to go there. Believe me.
The government has been embarrassed, and they are reacting in an angry rage.
I am open to an alternative to martial law, but other descriptions fail to come to mind.
Shall we wait for things to get even more obvious?
