A tense standoff at a US-Canadian border crossing crucial to both countries’ economies appeared to be dissolving peacefully Saturday as Canadian police moved in to disperse the nearly weeklong blockade and demonstrators began leaving without resistance.

Many demonstrators drove away from the Ambassador Bridge spanning the river between Detroit and Windsor, Ontario, as scores of police approached shortly after dawn.
So much for the brave insurrectionists. What exactly have they achieved, except shutting down various car plants for a few days, cutting the wages of quite a lot of people?
That's propaganda.

Feb. 12, 2:35 p.m.: Bridge reopening in doubt

An increasing number of protesters have arrived on foot and there is growing doubt that the bridge will reopen this afternoon, according to tweets from a reporter for The Windsor Star newspaper.

Deputy Chief Jason Bellaire told The Star that he can't speculate whether the blockade will be completely cleared today.

"It really depends on how things go and the interactions between demonstrators and the officers," he told the newspaper.

It seems to be a matter of fact, and not propaganda, that the brave insurrectionists who were blocking the bridge took the cowardly way out and drove away.

So what have they achieved?

So what was the purpose of posting old/false information, from a foreign news source? Do you have a narrative?

I don't think trudeau is a "fascist psychopath". I think he's a sociopath with strong narcissistic features. Most definitely in the cluster B.

There was a recent study that showed Washington DC had the highest rate of psychopaths, followed by Connecticut, California, New York, and New Jersey (all liberal states).
I get what you’re trying to imply, that liberals are psychopaths. The study you’re referencing said this:

Areas of the United States that are measured to be most psychopathic are those in the Northeast and other similarly populated regions. The least psychopathic are predominantly rural areas. The District of Columbia is measured to be far more psychopathic than any individual state in the country, a fact that can be readily explained either by its very high population density or by the type of person who may be drawn a literal seat of power.

So once again a case of that conservatives lie, shade the truth, and come to nonsense conclusions hoping that nobody will notice that they’re completely full of shit.

Actually, the study most definitely shows, as you so conveniently highlighted, that heavily populated areas (urban) have the highest density of psychopaths......which extrapolated into Canadian terms, would mean Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa. Yup, centers that vote Liberal.

Thanks for digging into that study!

Problem with more and more Liberals is they aren't liberal at all. They're increasingly becoming leftists. While Conservatives have shifted to the centre.
There's an interesting Pew Research Study, I think it was published Oct 2017, that tracked degree of ideology from the mid 90's onward. The Dems shifted dramatically left, mostly during the Trump years. The Republicans were consistently center to center/right.

It's a great read.

You wanted them to leave and are now calling the ones who did cowards? And implying it's possible that all protestors could potentially be racists and bigots in your prior posts.

Agree or disagree with the protestors, bravery is certainly a word you could use to describe many. Also courageous, passionate, patriotic. Cowardly, no.
You’re right; I did want them to leave.

How brave is it to slink off at dawn? Just curious.

Which is exactly what happened in Coutts.

Oh hang on a minute, the border is still blocked at Coutts by a bunch of thugs whom have now cost the Alberta economy over $600 Million dollars. So much for making life better for everyone.

The same goes for the dimwits blocking the Ambassador Bridge, hundreds of millions of dollars in trade crossed there daily. Now, the largest trade route (via road) between the US and Canada is blocked; people are being laid off due to shortages in just on time deliveries, oh and prices are expected to go up nationally due to the blockade - in addition to even higher inflation.

Well done boys and girls, you're making more and more friends by the minute. Frankly, I'm surprised the now laid off autoworkers haven't cleared the bridge themselves. They're not exactly known to take kindly to being put out on the street.

How'd you come up with your name anyway? Can I assume the obvious?
I wanted to get Aviatrix but that was already in use. So since I’m Bulgarian I just used the Bulgarian feminine suffix -ard for my name. Flying woman. But you can assume whatever you want.

Kenney didn't drop all mandates, he's only dropped some (as you may well know).

I hear the stance by the Coutts Truckers is they won't leave until all mandates are dropped. Can't really blame them for not trusting Government. I know I don't.

I'll admit that the autoworkers must be in a bit of a pickle on which side of this equation they'd take.......being super pro-union and all. We'll have to see.

It's very very hard to fathom the sheer stupidity of anyone for whom the "anything" of choice is to try to put a stop to the Canadian auto parts industry. It makes what's going on in Ottawa look positively intellectual.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told a Quebec television station people who do not get vaccinated against COVID-19 are often racist and misogynistic extremists.

But he said the people of Quebec are not the problem and questioned whether the rest of Canada needs to “tolerate” the unvaccinated.

https://westernstandardonline.com/2021/ ... xtremists/
It’s hard to tell what he actually said since I don’t speak French and the only sources I could find are equally dubious as western star online. Let’s grant that their translation is accurate. If so then you’re right to say that isn’t a message of unity.

The article goes on to say this:

His comments prompted People’s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier to call Trudeau a “fascist psychopath.”

Is this a message of unity from a party leader? Oddly you had no comment to make on this conservative party leader’s statement.
rookiepilot wrote: Who here voted for these 2 individuals?
Since the party leaders also run in their own ridings probably very few avcanada folks voted for them. I voted for the candidate in my riding. Canadians don’t directly vote for party leaders.
Toronto Sun.

https://torontosun.com/opinion/columnis ... -canadians

Does it need to be the CBC to be credible?

I don’t support Bernier or his comments. He holds…1 seat? Or none?

Not comparable in influence.

Trudeau is the PM. If he won’t unify Canadians, who will?

You know what’s really sad?

The raving bloodthirsty component on this forum, who are just like the CBC.

You few want nothing more than to see riot police going in with tear gas and truncheons, beating the crap out of everyone, women children included.

You get off on this stuff.

Been pushing for this from day 1. Shame, Shame.

Show a little empathy and put yourself in their shoes. It's been two years and the outlook only looked worse. Is there some sort of lack of jobs available to truckers. I think the domestic market is quite robust.

I'm surprised that the people they are intentionally trying to piss off with their 24 hour honking(or out of a job) haven't taken this action themselves. There are a variety of reasons to feel sick.
