Yeah, waiting in the airport all evening, being bumped down 2 standby flights hoping to make the last midnight Q to YYZ to spend the night in a crash pad or airport hotel for your 6am report is fricken sweet!
I do it it for fun while I'm laid off just to fall asleep with the taste of the last remaining 13 buck Starbucks wrap fresh in my mouth.
Personally, I would welcome a non-commuting position even if it came with a hit.

What are the chances of getting YKF base as an FO - is it a sought-after base or not? If given a different base how long would you expect to wait to be able to transfer to YKF?
As a ballpark number, how many hours/month do pilots fly? Are they able to do any additional flying on their days off from Flair?
Are many FOs getting hired with the minimums of ATPL and 2000 hrs total?
Kitchener is the most junior base. They currently have 3 FO's assigned to this base to cover for 2 airplanes.
When can you start?
Plan on being rostered 50 hours a month unless you're Kitchener based. It's pretty much unlimited overtime at YKF. Fly to CARS max if you want and live like a baller on your days off.

What type of hours and experience are FOs typically being hired with?
We're prioritizing FO's with a minimum of 3500-4000 TT and an ATPL with relevant 704/705 turboprop command so that they are eligible and capable of upgrading in 6-12 months.
LAter in 2023 as the upgrade times extend to 24 months the hours to become competitive likely will drop.
As I understand, invites for the March ground-schools have already gone out. I’m wondering when the invites for the April and May ground-schools are going to go out?

I’ve just been accepted in the hiring pool for FO position at flair. Does anybody know how much time it should takes before receiving a groundschool invitation? Are the ones in march already full?
@DinosaurBoeing Congratulations for being accepted. Can I know how was the interview like and what all topics/areas/questions were covered if you can think off. Thanks

March groundschools are not full yet. Invites tend to go out 4 weeks in advance for all courses

It depends on your experience. March ground schools are not full as of yet, though they're close. Early march is prioritized for experienced candidates that can upgrade immediately.
April-June hires the upgrades will likely be summer 2023 so we have a bit more time to develop lower experienced pilots so we'll hire more turbo prop only pilots on the later courses.

Thanks for the update. Please keep them coming as classes are filled. Anticipation levels are high and this certainly helps.

Could someone tell me what the chances are of holding YXX as a new hire FO?
Or how long it would take someone to bid for the YXX/YVR bases as a new hire?
YXX is going as junior as the Feb 2022 new hires. YVR in January 2022.
We're adding 8 aircraft this year of which one is going to YVR and there should be more there next year so I anticipate availability in YVR again in 2023 although they are our relatively more senior bases.

I have a valid ICAO ATP & FAA ATP
Current on B737NG/MAX & flying as a FO for an airline Asia.
Permanent Canadian Resident.
What are the odds of getting atleast an interview call.
Thanks
That will depend on your total time, whether or not you have a Canadian ATPL with type rating and Cat1 medical and if you hold a C1/D visa withe permanent residency.
We're interviewing up to 100 pilots a month throughout the summer.
Thank you for the quick response.
I have 3000 hrs on B737NG/MAX & My TT is 5000hrs.
I am scheduling myself for FAAA exam to convert my FAA ATP to TCCA ATP
I have B1 visa.

That experience would be quite competitive at the moment. I'd suggest starting the C1D visa (the processing time can be extended due to COVID and we won't hire a candidate that doesn't already have the C1D although they will interview without it) and ensuring you highlight that you have a B1, are applying for the C1D, and have the right to work in Canada.
We have a lot of foreign pilot applicants that apply without a PR or right to work so if you're not a Canadian citizen but have a PR and an overseas address your application may hide in the masses of unqualified pilots. If you don't have a Candian license or medical that will likely also get you missed.
All of those documents would need to be in place prior to an employment offer

Thank you for the detailed response.
So does that mean that i need to have crew visa before applying for the job or I can apply for it after the employment offer becuase they might would like to see the offer before giving a crew visa.
Is the YUL base a bid option on the current ground schools? Is it popular amongst the current staff? Just trying to figure out if it would be realistic to think you'd have a chance at it as a new hire

Montreal is opening July 1st. There are open FO and Captain spots as of the latest bid so a new hire should have no problem holding Montreal currently.
