Pilot Weather From Solo to Airlines by Doug Morris

Post by itaserb »

Hello,

Recently I found "Pilot Weather From Solo to Airlines" book by Doug Morris. Just curious if anybody bought it and does it worth the money? Is it something like RCAF WX Manual with some US weather abbreviations or they talk about weather more in depth?

Any feedback would be welcome.

It’s got some pretty pictures. Capt Doug thinks a lot of himself, and he is a good salesman. You don’t need it to pass any exams, but maybe it is the right thing for you to understand met better. I wouldn’t spend my money on it, but if you can spend someone else’s money, fill your boots. Your mileage may vary.

I was surprised to hear that he shows up to new hire air Canada ground schools promoting his books. I was even more surprised to hear that people actually buy them.

I met him in Frankfurt once and he was an extremely nice fellow. Very funny too, I was laughing all evening.

If you want a good weather book that will help you learn the big picture rather than just what is required to pass exams, I suggest "Weather Flying" by Robert N. Buck and Robert O. Buck.
