FTDT App for Canada

Post by fruz »

Sorry if this has been asked already but I'm looking for an app that will track Flight Time Duty Time with the new CARs. Specifically, something we can upload our schedules to. I've seen a few apps out there that permit this in other regions but have yet to come across something similar here in Canada. Is there such an app? Anyone willing to design one?

This would be helpful. The new regs are messy.

Yeah, well there must be someone out there that could design an app for our phones that we could use personally. I agree, the regs can be a bit overwhelming to understand. Something similar to the EASA FLT Calc on iOS would be ideal. Just saying, it would be handy for all if someone designed one or knew of one that us Canadians could use. Seems like they're out there for Americans and Europeans already.

The ALPA app is free and has a FDT calculator in it.

That app has limited functionality for non-alpa members. The FDT is one of the features thats limited to only ALPA.

Does this support roster upload or must you plug in your day? Looking for something similar to the EASA FLT Calc app, which permits this.

https://skylegs.com/ supports Canadian duty regulations, including the new 703 ones when they come into effect.

This is from their website you quoted…

“Skylegs Cabin and Flight crew app is free for all organisation that use Skylegs platform.” This is just a schedule app that your company must use. Doesn’t help much here…

So I’m assuming there isn’t much out there then. Bummer.

It's more than a schedule app. But yes it's something that's implemented on company level.

I am curious though, why would you need a standalone duty app? Your company is just as responsible to keep you within limits as you are.

haha, I’m not naive that’s why. Take a read through the posts above. There’s a reason ALPA has their own app. Don’t be so naive.

I’m not going to my company to have them “buy in” or subscribe at their level. I’m looking for an app that crew can monitor themselves like ALPA crew do.

Our company uses this:
https://air-suite.com/cirro/features/flight-duty-time/

I don’t like it personally but that’s not saying much.
I would hope they update it when the new rules come into effect.
