Is it worth getting IFR re-validated using IPC in a sim at a flight school before getting a job that requires a PPC? Are they even offered

Absolutely common practise. The PPC sim ride is effectively an IFR validation, don't waste your money otherwise.

So if someone will train you let’s say on the Pilatus PC12 and my class 1 IFR needs an IPC I should try applying without the IPC because if they hire they will revalidate my IPC.

Just confirming todays way of doing things and what’s happening out there.

Thanks

Yep did this back in 2017, had a non current gr 1 and was hired by a 703, the PPC was my renewal.

I would hate to be passed over during the interview process for a job I really wanted because I didn’t bother to be current.

I would look at it from the perspective of whether you want to go into training on a new type in an IFR operation with “rusty” IFR skills. So if you have kept your IFR skills up to date, it’s just your IPC has lapsed, then by all means just allow the PPC to renew your IFR. If, on the other hand, you haven’t done any IFR flying in the past two years, it may be in your interest to get some practice so you’re well prepared for the first PPC training event.

100% agree! It wouLD do me a lot of good to do an IPC for my experience.
