What’s the lowest time pilot that was hired at Porter outside of their college grads ? Curious to feel today’s situation.

Thanks

Bare minimum required is 1000TT, that is a hard rule irregardless of where you did your training. I think lowest time in our class was 1200tt

That will have to change, unless Rookie is correct, and the recession is as bad as he thinks it will be.

Wonder how many are going out to current E-jet qualified pilots? There is only one source in Canada.

What will hurt Jazz the most is if there are E175 ACP departures. Line pilots can be replaced. CCP is tougher.

I presume POE is looking for E-jet ACP that will receive quick TC approval.

Jazz is going to have to up the pay very soon. I think they are in denial still. Year 2 Porter pay is more than year 17 pay at Jazz. Plus Porter pilots wouldn’t have the insane pay deductions we have at Jazz.

Yup. But don’t want to turn this in to a Jazz thread.

Pilots looking for (relative) job security or a 90% career path to AC will likely not pursue POE.

Pilots looking for a meaningful pay bump and the opportunity to fly a larger next gen aircraft will look to move. OTS opportunity still available at AC.

The broader issue here is what every carrier is prepared to do to either attract or retain pilots. POE has put its cards on the table.

Any idea where one could find porters payscales?

In todays world of piloting especially in Canada I’d take Porter over Jazz, obviously the pay and atmosphere is better. I wonder how many Jazz captains will go but if you want to go to AC I guess Jazz is your quickest way.

Good. Hope they enjoy the Sky Regional trash that now plagues Jazz.

The Embraers are no doubt pure garbage but it's the constant complaining Sky pilots.

Why do you think they complain so much? Couldn’t be because things used to be better for them could it?

There is at least 2 ACP on the EMB leaving in Sept to my knowledge. that's not counting Training pilots leaving too.

Let them deny and continue to offer crappy pay. the wall is not far.

I think we're arriving at a tipping point in Canadian aviation where operators are starting to realize they will have to actually compete for crews attention.

I figure a big determinent on how agressively the non-flag carriers will have to fight to attract the attention of those in the industry will hinge on ACs pilot contract refresher come 2023. If AC really pulls out the stops in the next agreement, crews with xp will filter from the regionals up and leave a deep void to fill.

At this point though, Jazz has to come up quite a bit if they want to compete in catching the interest of those in the experience pool. FOs I figure, talent and pay is fairly comparable right now. Both operators (Porter and Jazz) are pulling from colleges, and depth of xp from those candidates is fairly limited for at least a few more years.

Hearing Porter suck up a bunch of high end Sky guys should make for interesting times for an operator already struggling to keep XP in the left seat (Jazz).

Hence, tipping point. How will the AC managers manipulate the situation this time to keep things status quo? 🤔
