That wasn't that bad. If she'll float, she'll fly.

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.

Flying a Norseman ought to allow you to count the time on the water towards your 60 Ton Captains ticket

Seriously though I bet those poor cylinders were pretty toasty before it finally got off the water

And *that*, Ladies and Gentlemen, is why the DHC-3 Otter was invented!

Incidentally, it's also proof of the curvature of the Earth! :smt040

Going eastbound on the slide helps to, you know, rotation of the earth and all that....

Feels like he could have got on the step earlier. Maybe just me.

I'm not sure what's more depressing: That everyone has a price, or how low the price always is.

I think my first flight in a172 for my float rating many years ago was longer. Kept on going. Fortunately, it was a river. Have never seen anything close to that again since I started flying floats again, not not sure why it was so significant.

I think it was glassy and instructor mumbled something about a bit of a tailwind, but there were only two of us. Maybe he had a low power engine.

Had a pacer on floats, the mechanics did a bang up job on the annual(not) the tubes attached to the float pumpouts were detached. Had about 80 gallons of water in the floats. Took off in am from Charlie lake(yxj) used most of the lake, had to fly to peace river in ground effect in the river valley due to oil temp. Gave the mechanics shit when I got back. " Well it's hard to do a proper annual on floats" iow all of our annuals on floats are crap.....

Sadly, I have you beat.

Picked up my 180 years back after its annual which included re skinning the floats. Took off, landed at home base tied her to the dock. Get a call the next morning from my partner on the aircraft and man oh man was he mad!

Took his wife that morning to see our plane and found it hanging off the dock and the other float completely sunk!

That was an annual/float repair bill that was challenged!
