What will Jazz turn Into?
With everyone using Jazz as a stepping stone company what will the future of Jazz look like for the employees who stay. Will it slowly degrade into another terrible stepping stone company?

Won't change, it's been a stepping stone forever, this isn't new. Main problem is the pay with lagging quite a bitMalfunction wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 9:31 am With everyone using Jazz as a stepping stone company what will the future of Jazz look like for the employees who stay. Re: What will Jazz turn Into?
Out of curiosity what is the pay lagging in comparison to?
What other sub 80 seat regional pays their guys 150k + ?
I'm convinced that there is a solid group of younger individuals that have made their choice to stay and are happy at jazz. They will eventually find their way into committees and union positions and the training department. When that happens I hope that they will work hard to maintain the culture that made them want to stay in the first place. Hopefully we can make it better for ourselves and future pilots along the way.

It will likely evolve in to a smaller version of itself.Malfunction wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 9:31 am With everyone using Jazz as a stepping stone company what will the future of Jazz look like for the employees who stay. Will it slowly degrade into another terrible stepping stone company?
Perhaps 80 76 seat jets out in the 2026-2028 time frame. More likely 50 76 seat jets and 30+ Q400. Approximately 1000 line pilot jobs. Current line pilot positions approx 1340. Add trainers and admin/mgmt pilots on top.
Hopefully while this is going on the wages will be revisited to ensure adequate pilot supply.

Why smaller, what's the reasoning for that conclusion ?rudder wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 2:05 pmIt will likely evolve in to a smaller version of itself.Malfunction wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 9:31 am With everyone using Jazz as a stepping stone company what will the future of Jazz look like for the employees who stay. Re: What will Jazz turn Into?
CPA fleet minimum guarantee after Dec 2025 is 80 76-78 seat aircraft. Fleet may be bigger (fate of 15 CRJ200’s TBD ) but bets on the future should be based on guarantees.
If there is a pilot supply problem that extends in to the future, AC could be looking at Jazz running min fleet. That could even happen now. Fleet guarantee 2022-2025 is 105.

Not comparatively with other companies but to the cost of living. Out benefits are expected to go up even more, crappy "2%" raises, idk how any FO can afford it in a few yearsAdmiral Benson wrote: ↑Mon Sep 05, 2022 1:08 pm Out of curiosity what is the pay lagging in comparison to?

Can’t ignore what’s going on south of the border. Jazz is the only real regional in Canada now. Porter is going “mainline” and Encore is crap and not worthy of mention. The problem with Jazz is the fact that your paycheque is raped with deductions and taxes compounded with double digit inflation. (Don’t believe the 8% the government tells you - they’re lying).
