... It's friggin embarrassing standing in a Customs line with them.

We are like the cheap prostitutes of the major airlines.
Man I feel exactly the same way. I don't have any pride wearing this uniform when other airlines call us things like "the whores of the north" and "Pirates of the north Atlantic".

We whore ourselves out to "capture the flying".

It's sad, really. We have no professional pride anymore.
I don’t remember a time when there was any professional pride in this industry in Canada. Tim hortons uniform will earn you more.

Work the ramp.
Fly right seat on a single for free.
Instruct for peanuts.
Sign training bonds.
Clean airplanes.
Pick up garbage and groom a 737 or a Q400.
Them finally make it to the dream job, to make less than a McDonald’s employee.

Lots of professional pride.

Painfully accurate.

Lufthansa improves offer to pilot group to avoid a 2 day strike. Management says “we weren’t aware the pilot group was unhappy”.

From the article, sounds like almost every major airline is starting to threaten strike action this year and next.

Lufthansa
British Airways
Ryan Air (cabin crew)
United
Delta
Jet Blue (just from this news story).

In June, United secured 14.5% pay raise for their pilots. 6 days later American pilots agreed to a 17% pay raise. Until they decided last month they should actually fight for 20.4% over 3 years as well.

The examples set by these and many other airlines should be a lesson to all of us.

It’s time to take our balls back!
