Never thought I’d live to see direct service between Toronto and Peterborough.

There'll need to be a 10% pay cut to capture that flying thoughJack Klumpus wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 9:28 am Never thought I’d live to see direct service between Toronto and Peterborough.

Re: Air Canada to Acquire 30 ES-30 Electric Regional Aircraft
Anyone want to take a stab at what this regional will be called?
We've tried Jazz, Georgian, Sky Regional... EVAS, and CMA.
Also starting pay rates $27.50/hr because the young libs coming into the industry WILL take a paycut to help the war on climate change.

A Lucie Guillemette style airline would in fact use that name!

No need for young libs. AC pilots are amongst the lowest paid, and they took a pay cut to capture the flying. I doubt they’re all libs.QKZXKV wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 12:15 pm Anyone want to take a stab at what this regional will be called?

Sold all my Air Canada shares. Not interested in holding onto a company that is buying airplanes that aren’t capable of anything more than quick sightseeing tours .

Not surprising that you make investment decisions based on clickbait headlines that are factually incorrect.WellThatAgedWell wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 5:23 am Sold all my Air Canada shares. Just to clarify, the ES-30 is not proposed to be an 'electric airplane'. It's a plug in hybrid that can do up to 200km without starting the hybrid system, but operating as a hybrid it can carry 25 pax for 800km. I'd suggest that's a bit more than a sightseeing tour, and more like a modern replacement for the B1900 that can do the same task on substantially less fuel.
On the bright side, markets work best when the 'dumb money' gets flushed from the markets at 5 year lows.

The ones coming out of college typically are because those are brainwashing institutes. The faculty is full of that drivel.Jack Klumpus wrote: ↑Thu Sep 15, 2022 11:58 pmNo need for young libs. That's not what the marketing says. The generator is only an option. It says in full electric configuration it's about 1/2 the operation cost of a 50 seat turboprop per passenger. Who is still running 50 seat aircraft at a major level? Nobody. Or the few that are are trying to get rid of them because operating cost is about the same as an 80 seat aircraft. So now you're 30 seat aircraft cost about the same as an 80 seat aircraft. And I read operation cost to reflect fuel burn and maintenance but of course there are more costs associated with running an aircraft than the actual run cost.goldeneagle wrote: ↑Fri Sep 16, 2022 8:36 am Just to clarify, the ES-30 is not proposed to be an 'electric airplane'. 30 passengers is a fucking joke. Where are you going to run that efficiently? Most modern airports, particularly hubs, need big planes, they encourage big airplanes. They don't even want RJs in there anymore. Send a Boeing or a 'Bus they are mandating... Imagine the flow times when you have to triple or quadruple your frequencies from every station?
And only 20,000'? Seriously? I'll be surprised if it's certified to fly over the mountains.
This is just marketing to the mass green psychosis.

I have concerns about their cargo expansion now too.
