A couple people have moved on or retired. Offshore has picked up and will likely have a number of people chase the $. Pay doesn't appear to be on the rise to match the cost of living increase/inflation as well.

I don't know an exact figure but my guess is they need 5-10 pilots to be at a full compliment. Not sure how many are in training currently.

There is about 7-10k in built in OT on top of those salaries, a fair amount of OT during the summer months too, but the base salary could be alot higher than what it is.

All in all 120-130+ (capt) 90-100+ (FO) to work 1/3-1/2 the year isn't bad, but not enough to attract or keep people.

Agreed it could be higher, and there are jobs internationally where you make more. I chose to be home every night, works for me right now, the pay isn’t perfect.

Doing a quick search, ATP in the GOM averages 120k, national average for EMS is 99k.

Are you referring to ATP for airlines?

120k US is decent but certainly not double the pay in Canada. Cougar might pay the most for an ATPL in Canada. Ultimately I don’t think Canadian companies look at what the US pay their pilots or engineers as we aren’t in the states, but I like those figures and hope they realize they need to start increasing pay or they will bleed staff to other professions.

It is double when you factor in the exchange rate, much lower income tax, 401k matching, and all the other benefits nowhere in Canada provides and the fact 120CAD at ornge factors in mandatory overtime.
I don’t see the actual salary for ornge captains recently but it’s not over 5 figures I bet.
I did the actual math several years ago on this exact subject and everywhere I looked at similar work (76/139 flying) it averaged around twice what helijet, ornge, stars etc were paying. Cougar didn’t used to have the highest pay but that may have changed in recent years.

I stand corrected. They did bump the salary a little since I last saw. 95-113k. Still much lower than it should be.

Yeah it's still not where it should be, that US 120k is closer to $160k Canadian, that would be a very welcome increase!

Appreciate the info on the US aside of things, hopefully it will help show the difference in pay and what the equivalent experience is giving in the US.

Yep and the pilots I work with make much more than that. Ems jobs in the states are a bit chaos, not my bag, but guys that do it make very good money at the right places. As for helping with wages here , I don’t think it ever will, Canada’s industry is always an employers market, it would have to take something major to change that.
