Post by J31 »

Terrible loss, be careful out there.

From CBC:

The pilot of a crop dusting plane is dead after the aircraft crashed in a field southwest of Portage la Prairie on Tuesday night.

At about 8:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to an area about 18 kilometers southwest of Southport after reports of a plane crash.

Crews found a crop dusting plane crashed in a field. Its pilot, a 54-year-old Morden man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Wednesday news release from RCMP.

It’s been a tough year so far for Ag pilots in Canada. 3 fatalities that I’m aware of.

C-GOKD, an Ayres S-2R operated by Pembina Air 1999 Ltd. C-GOKD departed Treherne/South
Northfolk Airpark (CTN6) MB. to conduct aerial application operations approximately 12 NM to the
north east of CTN6. The aircraft was conducting a race track spray pattern on the field and, while
turning, the aircraft collided with the ground. The ELT activated and RCMP, EMS and the local fire
department responded. The pilot was fatally injured. TSB is investigating.
