Airplane crash on island south of Kenora, Ont., leaves 1 dead

One person is dead after a plane crash in northwestern Ontario, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police in Kenora were notified of the crash Wednesday at about 8 p.m., according to an OPP news release Thursday.
Police and the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre responded to the crash site on Shore Island on Lake of the Woods, about 30 kilometres south of Kenora, where they found one occupant dead.
Ontario's office of the chief coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service plan to do an autopsy.
The Transportation Safety Board has also been notified

Not to jump to conclusions but unfortunately I think you can read the limited information and come to a conclusion as to one of the contributing factors as to the cause of this one. RIP to whomever was involved.

So how does this airplane depart Baudette, Minnesota for Roseau, Minnesota, a track of about 280 degrees but end up on a track of 360 degrees and 45 miles into Canada? Crossing an international boarder?

Crossing an international border with no intention to land is not a big deal. I do it regularly. Believe it or not, airplanes are capable of flying routes other than GPS direct.
