Re: New Hires
Anyone have an idea of what kind of hours they're currently hiring at for people not in the mentorship program?

Re: New Hires
Porter has a minimum requirement of 1000 hours for the Q. Seen a wide range of new hires from 1000 to 2000-2500.iamnumber1pilot wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 11:45 am Anyone have an idea of what kind of hours they're currently hiring at for people not in the mentorship program?

Re: New Hires
I can confirm that the most current revision of Porter Flight Operations Administrative Guide "FOAG" (in other words T&C) is the following:
Entry Level FO: 1000 Total Time, with ATPL or IATRA
Additionally:
" Any pilot candidate hired through the Destination Porter Program, or any pilot candidate with 1500 hours or less, or has limited multi-crew IFR experience will undergo a pre-hire simulator evaluation unless deemed unnecessary by the Chief Pilot or Assistant Chief Pilot, Training. Additionally, they will be required to undergo Enhanced Initial Line Indoctrination.
Enhanced Line Indoctrination includes:
• 60 sectors of Line Indoc (may be reduced to 40 sectors in accordance with Company Training Manual);
• a progress flight check every 20 sectors of Line Indoctrination via a written report to the Assistant
Chief Pilot, Training;
• five landings (at least 2 with a flap setting of 35°) at an airport other than CYTZ prior to landing at
CYTZ for the first time; and
• 10 successful CYTZ landings
That being said, prior to COVID, and the hiring boom in the last 7 years it was much higher: ATPL, 3000 TT, 500 MPIC

Anyone did an interview lately? When do they normally send a PFO email after an interview?

Re: New Hires
I applied in May/did the initial video interview and just got asked to submit an updated resume this week (and instructed to update them with milestones like 800, 1000, and 1500 hours). Not sure if that means I’m part of the program now or not, but to answer your question, it took about 6 months to get a response. Hope this is good news!Aspiredtofly wrote: ↑Sun Oct 23, 2022 11:02 am Have anyone of you applying from the Porter mentorship program get any response from the company if so, how much time did it take

Re: New Hires
I haven't got an interview yet but they messaged me for a new resume as well. The FO listing ended yesterday. Been 2.5 months since I applied. Couple coworkers with much lower hours have been picked up so I wonder if my CV just sucked.yowflyer23 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 4:03 amI applied in May/did the initial video interview and just got asked to submit an updated resume this week (and instructed to update them with milestones like 800, 1000, and 1500 hours). Re: New Hires
Would Porter hire you with only single engine turboprop time (i.e. PC-12, C208 SPIFR, etc) or is it necessary to get some MIFR time?

Re: New Hires
We’ve hired some pilots with minimal <100 multi time and yes, they were coming from decent PC12’s etc with IFR experience.

Actually on the last Q400 GS most people were instructors and don’t have multi experience outside their Group 1.Timetoflyagain wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:07 pm We’ve hired some pilots with minimal <100 multi time and yes, they were coming from decent PC12’s etc with IFR experience.

Yes, but only as a DEC on the E2 with an existing E1 common type rating.

Oh ok , I guess I’ll throw my resume in the trash. Thanks for the updateTimetoflyagain wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 8:21 pm Yes, but only as a DEC on the E2 with an existing E1 common type rating.

…we’ll, don’t just yet…send it in anyway and see. The only ones I know of had that…doesn’t mean the rest aren’t going to happen. Only guarantee is “no” if you don’t try!ellinas wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 9:42 pmOh ok , I guess I’ll throw my resume in the trash. What, no. Don't listen to this guy. There was a fellow in my GS who was in his 50s and I've seen several guys after me in their 50s. If you want to work at Porter, please apply. There is no ageism, and no you don't need a type rating on anything.ellinas wrote: ↑Mon Nov 28, 2022 9:42 pmOh ok , I guess I’ll throw my resume in the trash. Re: New Hires
Hi there, I got an interview with Porter about 3 weeks ago and yet no reply even if they mentioned that they will get back to me within two weeks! Anybody on the same boat?
Thanks

Thanks

Re: New Hires
There is currently 1 individual running hiring for the entire company. That includes FO positions for the Embraer and Q. That also includes direct entry captain positions for both aircraft previously mentioned. As you've probably heard before, no news is good news. Given it's being run by one person, it might take longer than expected. Good luck!

Will see how it goes, Thanks !flyinmanzan wrote: ↑Sat Dec 03, 2022 9:17 pm There is currently 1 individual running hiring for the entire company. That includes FO positions for the Embraer and Q. Re: New Hires
I did an interview (E2) with them almost nine weeks ago. During the interview, they told me they would get back to me within two weeks. They never did. So I assumed that I was not successful

Thanks
Re: New Hires
Very helpful thanks!
At least I won't have it on my list of hopes

Good luck to all!
Re: New Hires
I eventually did receive my pfo, but they are slow. I would say it’s still very much no news is good news. They told me 2-3 weeks and i think it was 4-5

Re: New Hires
Many instructors have joined Porter over the years with only single-engine piston time as long as the total hours requirement was met.yowflyer23 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 11:52 am Would Porter hire you with only single engine turboprop time (i.e. PC-12, C208 SPIFR, etc) or is it necessary to get some MIFR time?
