Updated new duty day info received for 704 ops...

Post by Jet Jockey »

New duty day restrictions for a 704 operation... It will be somewhat complicated at first to understand and track all the info and hours to keep within the new rules.

This is just one of the pages...

For time spent on RESERVE away from home base, they have decided that you will be on duty from 07:30 to 16:30 daily or 9 hours total.

Example of this is, if you are on a 12 day trip and you remain at destination for 10 days without flying prior to your return home, you would be considered on duty from 07:30 to 16:30 daily (9 hours)... 33% of the 9.0 hours or 3.0 hours daily would be added to your yearly duty time.

Ok. What's your point?

-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

My point is, after reading through the memo, that it is going to be complicated to follow all directives/conditions in how to apply what and when to be able to schedule a crew to a flight.

Hopefully the 604 operations won't be affected by these new rules.

Prob easier to just ignore the GA guys when it comes to explaining working pilot stuff. Save your time.

I doubt it will be an issue. I think most (all?) operators where it could be an issue are using some kind of software for flight planning and scheduling. All these algorithms can fairly easily be implemented to automatically check if a flight can be legally added.

Compare it with take off performance calculations in combination with SIDs in mountainous terrain. If you do it all manually, it's a mess as well.
